LOL, I know, I was just being sarcastic. But, I think the Jets will be a tough one for you guys. It should be interesting. Last I have been hearing is that Culpepper will be back.

The eternal optimist in me expects improvement and looks at how well other downtrodden franchises have done in recent seasons and thinks there is a chance we could improve enough to sniff the playoffs. The realist/cynic in me realizes that this franchise is fucking cursed and damned to another 5-11 season. It's a battle of epic proportions going on inside my head.:box:

If course the point is moot if Phil drafts Quinn and I become a Jets fan.

Ok I know some of you will mess with me for this but just hear me out. I realize that the browns have major issues. O and D line, QB, RB, no running and weak passing game, injury problems. As bad as the problems for cleveland were last season I don't believe that the team was as bad as their record indicated.
  1. Week 1 loss to the Saints 19-14. If they had any kind of offense they would have won the game and let us not forget where the saints ended up when all was said and done.
  2. Week 3 against Baltimore they were only down 3 until the 4th quarter when the defense gave up 12 points. Still a good showing without any help from the offense.
  3. Week 5 loss @Carolina 20-12. The defense did a great job but again the offense could not score a touchdown.
  4. Week 9 @San Diego. We gave them a hell of a game and wound up coming up just short in the end. 32-25 L. But again the Chargers were a great team and they had to do everything they could to find a way to beat us at the end.
  5. Week 11 against Pukesburg. We were up 10 at half but gave up 21 in the 4th quarter and lost 24-20. Still close but it is still a gut wrenching loss.
  6. Week 14 @the rat birds. Lost 27-17 but we were within a touchdown in the 4th quarter until the rat birds kicked a long fieldgoal. I think it was a very close game once again.
  7. Finally week 16 @Houston lost 14-6 when again if the offense is even breathing we win this game.
My point is that I think they were a lot closer in many games than people may give them credit for. I know that a loss is still a loss but the way you measure progress is how you play against good teams and Cleveland often played tough against the good teams they faced. All I am trying to say is that we may not be as far off as some may believe. Yes we have major issues and have tried to address some of them in the offseason but with all our major issues we still had a chance to have a decent record last year. I have pointed out 7 losses that easily could have been wins. If we have continue our good offseason, have a good draft, avoid the injury bug, and have a little luck. I think this team could surprise many downtrodden Browns fans. :banger: Keep your head up fellow Brownies it could always be worse....we could be Steeler fans! :yow1: :slappy:

The NFL schedule released Wednesday has the Cleveland Browns opening at home for the ninth consecutive season, this time against AFC North rival Pittsburgh.
Their record in the previous eight openers is 1-7.

Cleveland will face 3 AFC North teams during first four games

Three of the team's first four games are against their AFC North opponents -- and all three are at home.
Included is a season opener with a bang: at home against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Mike Tomlin's first game as head coach in the post-Bill Cowher era.

CLEVELAND Fans hurried past mounds of snow to a room inside Cleveland Browns Stadium and lapped up a night of talk about the big thaw.

A crowd of 250 Browns Backers paid $20 apiece Wednesday for a hot dog, chips, cookie and draft appetizers from General Manager Phil Savage and his scouting staff.

"I feel we're more on par with our competition than we've been since I came here," Savage said. "The window is just beginning to open."

The city was a rainy mess. The Indians couldn't have played here. The Browns have been a mess since making the playoffs in 2002, going 19-45.

It is hard to make an accurate guess so early in the year but I can realistically see an 8 or 9 win season as long as things go well this season. GO BROWNIES!!!! WOOF! WOOF!

I look at that schedule, and I see seven non-divisional games the Browns have a chance at winning (Raiders, Dolphins, Texans, Cardinals, Jets, Bills & 49ers.) It's reasonable to expect most teams in the league to five out of a set of seven winnable games, but since this is the Browns we're talking about, they're probably only good for three. I'll give them one divisional win out of four wins against the Ravens and Bengals, and I'll be optimistic and say that the new Steelers coach doesn't have the Browns' number quite yet and they split the two games. If we're really lucky this year, the Browns may even be able somehow win one game they have no business winning against a non-divisional opponent. I think at the very best, this is a six-win team against this schedule. More realistically though, we're probably looking at another 3-4 win season.
