Cleveland Browns (2007 & prior)

Brady Quinn Draft Pick Trade Watch:

If the season ended today, the first round pick the Browns traded to Dallas would fall in the 17-23 range, depending on tiebreakers. There's still a lot of season left, but the trade is looking much better from the Browns end at this point.

The funny thing is, the way Derek Anderson is going he may end up making the trade look like a waste for a totally different reason than we all expected when it happened.

Yep, They could have used the second round pick this year for for a DL and the first round pick next year for a RB. The only thing I know is that Charlie Frye really sucked.

This... uh... team... ain't half bad.

Don't know too many of us who thought we'd ever say that after the week 1 debacle against Pittsburgh.

I thought my beloved Browns would be lucky to win 2 or 3 games after the Stillers destroyed us. Crennel has saved his job with they way he's got this team playing.

Looking at the remaining schedule, .500 is definitely attainable. Let's just hope we don't have any serious injuries, because its nice to finally have a team worth watching on Sundays.

Without a doubt it would be nice to have those picks to use for other needs. The thing is, at the time the deal was made, QB was also one of those needs and nobody outside of Derek Anderson himself perhaps could have dreamed of things working out this way.

All the credit in the world to Chud for installing an offense that is actually very fun to watch. I've almost totally removed all traces of Mauroce Carthon from my mind.

Absolutely! This can't be said enough. Hiring Chud was perhaps the best move the Browns have made since returning to the league that wasn't a firing.

Yeah... I'm not sure they are as mentioned "ain't half bad"--- but... they sure are fun to watch... I mean... Not gonna win any big games with this team... but... at least... you feel like-- and this was the fun part about yesterday-- that they get down 14 and not only do you feel like they have the motivation to get back in it, they also have the firepower.

I agree 100%. I still wonder if Quinn just 'being there' has added a little extra urgency to Anderson's play, which has turned out to be brilliant. Could be exactly what he needed.

Cleveland Browns | Browns haven't 'arrived' yet

Browns haven't 'arrived' yet

The Browns are on a roll.
They're 4-3 and tied for second place in the AFC North. They've won three of their last four games and have won consecutive contests for the first time since 2003.
But have the Browns arrived?
Head coach Romeo Crennel says....

Browns head coach Romeo Crennel isn't easily impressed. He has high standards.
That's what happens when you grow up in a strict military family and then spend over a quarter-century as an NFL coach, during which time you've seen many of the game's all-time greats.
As such, then, Crennel rarely gives high praise to one of his players, and when he does, it causes people to take notice.

Cleveland Browns | Turning the tide

Turning the tide

ST. LOUIS -- The Browns don't want to think about 2006.
And who can blame them?
They lost their first three and started 1-5, lost their last four and ended 1-6, and finished a disappointing 4-12 overall.
But to truly appreciate where the Browns are at now, especially offensively, it's essential to look back at last season as a reference point.

I guess I don't understand why they continue to play S Smith at De when his natural position is NG and that is one of the reasons he signed with the Browns was that he wanted to play the Nose. They could put Simon Fraser at DE and move Smith to his "natural" position and Ethan could be his backup. If they would do that, they can send Washington out to pasture and see what their #1 priority is for the defensive line be at NG or DE or both.

I guess if the staff knew how Anderson was going to turn out they never would have made the Brady trade but that is history so we will have to live with it. It would be interesting to see if Anderson would get injured, or if all of a sudden he just went south, before the end of the season how Brady would perform. Just speculating I do not want to sacrifice any wins that Anderson brings the Browns.
