Browns look to boost failing grade

BEREA, Ohio - Center Hank Fraley gave the Cleveland offense the lowest possible grade after its performance against the Pittsburgh Steelers, saying the Browns played their "F game."
That leads Fraley and his teammates to believe they have nowhere to go but up Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals.
The Browns had 221 total yards, including 62 in the first half, in a 34-7 loss to the Steelers in their opener. The blame can't be placed solely on quarterbacks Charlie Frye and Derek Anderson, who were sacked six times. The running game gained 46 yards.

Bungling Browns stuck in rut like Bengals of '90s

BEREA, Ohio -- Ugly losses, poor drafts, coaching instability and a losing mentality.
These words described the Cincinnati Bengals in the 1990s. Today, it describes the Cleveland Browns.
Although the Browns are in their ninth season since rejoining the NFL in 1999, a strong case can be made that the new Browns are the old Bengals.
The in-state, AFC North rivals will meet today in Cleveland Browns Stadium, with the Bengals heavily favored. They have won five straight in the series.
But it wasn't long ago when Cincinnati was experiencing misery.
The Bengals were the laughingstock of the NFL before the arrival of coach Marvin Lewis and quarterback Carson Palmer. Cincinnati's first playoff appearance in 15 years came in 2005, and the Bengals have been respectable ever since.
