Cleveland Browns (2007 & prior)

Dispatch

Even though it's the Browns, Bengals wary

Sunday, September 16, 2007 4:06 AM

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

Any given Sunday. If any phrase sums up the appeal of the NFL, it may be that one.

No matter how bad a team is, no matter what controversies swirl off the field or inadequacies exist on it, an NFL team has a realistic chance for victory any week. Or so it's said.
That premise will be tested today. On paper, there's little reason for the Bengals to sweat this afternoon's game against the Browns in Cleveland Browns Stadium.
Cleveland is 0-1 after a 34-7 loss to Pittsburgh last week. The Browns were so dissatisfied with the play of starting quarterback Charlie Frye that they traded him to Seattle for a sixth-round draft pick. The buzzards are already circling coach Romeo Crennel.

Time for young Browns to grow up
UPDATE: 10:48 PM, Saturday, September 15, 2007
By Steve Doerschuk
REPOSITORY SPORTS WRITER

CLEVELAND Cleveland doesn?t rock heading into the Battle of Ohio. The Browns are 7-point underdogs to the Bengals for Sunday's 1 p.m. kickoff.

Maybe the Class of ?83 can help. Where were you in 1983?

Phil Savage was an all-star shortstop at Murphy High School in Mobile, Ala.

Chris Spielman was begging Earle Bruce for playing time at Ohio State.

Drew Carey was a Kent State dropout in the process of leaving the Marines, moving to Las Vegas and waiting tables at Denny?s.

Most of Cleveland?s ?skill players? who will attack the Bengals today were keeping Pampers in business.

I'm more referring to being the joke of the NFL and having no shot after 1 week.

SO the Bungholes have become the joke of the NFL and no shot after week 2?

Skip Bayliss predicts that the Browns will go 0-16. I think they will pull out one win, but 0-16 isn't totally out of the realm of possibilities.

Interesting to be quoting Skip Brainless and to also give his opinion some merit. Again, wrong for Skip and those who thought it "isn't totally out of the realm of possibilities".

Who fucking dey indeed.

Tom Archdeacon: Browns steal show from Bengals

By Tom Archdeacon

Monday, September 17, 2007

CLEVELAND ? The Cincinnati Bengals should have gotten the message when Chad Johnson ? their steal-the-stage receiver ? jumped into the Dawg Pound Sunday after he scored a touchdown and promptly got doused with beer, had popcorn dumped on him and even got bopped by an oversized bone.
Cleveland Browns fans were saying no matter what you do today ? and Johnson had one of his greatest games ever ? today you are not the show.

CLEVELAND ? If you neglected Jamal Lewis in your fantasy draft, it might have been a major miscalculation.
Sunday, Lewis strongly resembled the Lewis who set records against the Browns as a Baltimore Raven, but this time he ran wild for the Browns against the Bengals in a 51-45 victory in Cleveland Browns Stadium.

Die-hard Cleveland Browns fans can savor this stunning victory, says Terry Pluto

Monday, September 17, 2007
Browns fans, this one is for you.
It was a day of sunshine and standing ovations, of touchdowns, touchdowns and more touchdowns.
It was a day to proudly wear your brown and orange, to march boldly out of Cleveland Browns Stadium - chanting, singing, and yes, even barking. It was a day when many of you clapped until your hands were raw, screamed until your voices were squeaks.
