Cleveland Browns (2007 & prior)

I feel your pain, bro, I really do, but you are going to have to realize that we are playing different levels of football here, we really are.

I was always in the crowd that was the perfect GM, had all the answers. Obviously, they didn't take my advice, so I am left still guessing as a fan. And who knows whether or not I was right, but I am in love with the fact that the Browns are making noise in the FA market, and obviously control a certain aspect of the top 3 picks in the next draft. This is the only time I can think of that it pays to get excited about Browns football. Please don't ruin it for me:biggrin: .

Jamal Lewis has heard the whispers but insists his fuel gauge is nowhere near "E."

In effect, signing of Lewis goes far

Addition of back could alter many aspects of team

By Patrick McManamon

Beacon Journal sportswriter

The ripple effects from the Browns' signing of running back Jamal Lewis spread far and wide.
Lewis agreed to a one-year deal Wednesday night, leaving the Baltimore Ravens for a losing team and a potential $5 million paycheck (he is guaranteed to get $3.5 million, the rest is possible in incentives).
Questions about whether Lewis has anything left are misguided, Lewis said Thursday during a conference call.
``I have a lot left in the tank when I have something to work with,'' he said, according to a transcript provided by the team.

Lewis chose Browns for commitment to running game

Posted by Tony Grossi March 08, 2007 15:13PM

Categories: Browns

Jamal Lewis said he left the Baltimore Ravens for the Browns because the Browns have a greater commitment to running the ball.
"The Browns have made some good additions to the offensive line and they are committed to making more," Lewis said. "I think they're going to give me the carries I need. I knew it wasn't going to happen in Baltimore. Their profile seems to be they're wanting to be a passing team."

Lewis thrilled by move
Friday, March 9, 2007
By STEVE DOERSCHUK

Jamal Lewis signed Wednesday, talked Thursday and said things likely to fire up Browns fans about those Sundays in the distance.

The 5-foot-11, 245-pound running back described how he plans to set up his games in Cleveland Browns Stadium: "Beat people up in the first and second quarter. Turn the speed on in the third and fourth."

Still only 27, he said a one-year deal could turn into more.

"If I do what I can do and do what (General Manager) Phil Savage knows I can do, I feel one day I might retire as a Brown," he said.

CLEVELAND ? Jamal Lewis isn?t promising 2,000 yards but thinks he can be the same bruising running back who tormented the Cleveland Browns for years.
"They know what I can do. Hopefully, we can do it to other teams now," Lewis said yesterday. Lewis signed a one-year deal Wednesday with Cleveland that could be worth as much as $3.5 million, a move that takes him from first to worst in the AFC North.

if droughns is traded or released as rumored, then it's pretty obvious that AP will be cleveland's choice at #3.

I thought the exact same thing until I read the above articles. It almost sounds like they told Lewis some things when they signed him that leads him to believe he will be the only guy.

I would love to see AP and Lewis as a 1 2 punch, but I am starting to wonder if they are going to lean towards Quinn (please no!)
