Cleveland Browns (2007 & prior)

Cleveland papers had earlier reported the cost paid to the under-performing Shaffer had a first year cost near 6.5 million, so Steinbach asking for 7 yr 49 million is in line. It is exactly the contract that Steve Hutchinson received last year from Minnesota.
Strange that there is no link, where did you hear this IronBuckI?

I don't know, but NFLN is also reporting it as fact right now.

Not sure how reliable Houston Chronicle is -- but this is what came up in search engines.

SF just came to terms with Clements....damn. He's a 49er. 8 years for 80 million with 22 million guaranteed. He is now the highest paid defensive player in NFL history. No fucking way I'd pay 80 million for him.

I'm sad because I really wanted him, but I'm glad they didn't pay 10mil/yr too. Congrats to Clements for landing a huge deal.

So where do they go from here?

I'm also one of those Browns fans that has come to the conclusion that there is just a black cloud over that club.

Was LeChuck ever even injured before he became a Brown? Now his career is in jeopardy.

We ran Bill Belichik out of town when he was with the Browns, now he's...well, you know.

The Browns leave town, become the Ravens, and POOF...they get a ring.

I have simply lost faith in my team. I'd love to get it back, but until something happens to help me regain my faith it's going to be hard to get excited about the Browns.

I would think that contract would hamstring the Browns to the point that they wouldn't improve enough to make it worthwhile.

Lost out on Nate, but we don't have that kind of money to throw around. Good for him. Also, glad we got Steinbach. 7 million for a guard or not, he's a pro-bowler and this team needs talent immediately.

Now, if he can stay healthy and help pave the way for an AP perhaps...the long-term investment could prove well worth it.

Well I know one thing, Steinbach doesn't have to be associated with the group of felons in Cincy anymore :tongue2:
