Cleveland Browns (2007 & prior)

just looks like you'll be needing some OL in the draft, and that one isn't going to survive it to pick #3.....

I'd rather take Quinn where we're at than trade up for Thomas. And we all know the last guy I want is Quinn at 3/4 (have they done the coin flip yet?) overall. Third/Fourth overall could even turn out to be a reach for Thomas... no sense in trading up for him.
I'd take CJ, AP, and like I said -- even Quinn. I think there are some promising OL to be had in the 2nd round too.

probably not, but i think they will be able to get someone in the later rounds that will be serviceable. I am really keeping my fingers crossed that they get Steinbach or from what I heard Dielman is a stud too.

I think this team **has** to sign one of those guys. But they're both guards. We need a tackle just as much... and I think we'll have to go to the draft to get that.

Those are my sentiments as well. There's a lot of hate on this board for Brady Quinn, but I think he's a whole lot better than Charlie Frye. I wouldn't want to trade up to get get Thomas, but I wouldn't mind trading down and still landing Quinn.

I think the coin toss is Friday, not 100% sure. I'd rather us trade down and rob somebody who needs a QB.

I was just saying I'd rather take Quinn at 3/4 than trade up to show how fundamentally against trading up I am. I'd also rather take Russell than Quinn there (not because I think Russell is better -- just that I've seen Russell take some hits and get back up. Any QB we take in the 1st round will be broken down by the end of 2 years -- we mine as well get a guy that can crank out some yards for every bruising he takes.)
My preferred picks are Adrian or Thomas, then Calvin 3rd. (Even though we don't need a WR, I don't think you can pass on his talent there if AP and Thomas are gone.) If we're at 4, all of those guys could be off the board -- but I'd be a little surprised if Oakland and Detroit both pass on QBs.
If we're at 4 and none of those guys are there, I'm seeing a lose-lose situation... I hate to say it, but a guy like Branch might be the best bet for us, barring an unlikely trade.

Anybody but Quinn for the Browns pick. Seriously I just think he is overhyped and overrated. I know it might not be the best idea and will not happen but I personally would love to see the Browns draft Calvin Johnson. I think he is a real number 1 receiver and they could move Braylon to 2 or put Jurivicious at 2 and Braylon in the slot with winslow in the game. That would create a lot of matchup problems for teams. I honestly think it doesn't matter who we pick though because it won't matter who we pick unless we improve both our offensive and defensive lines...that is priority number one. GO BUCKS, BROWNS, AND CAPITAL CRUSADERS!

No position on the roster is in worse shape than cornerback, and the team will make a run at Bills shutdown corner Nate Clements. It's also imperative for the Browns to sign an experienced defensive lineman; a nose tackle would be ideal, but they may have to wait until the draft to find a good fit. The quickest way to fix the offensive line would be to sign the Bengals' Eric Steinbach, an elite guard. If they can't get Steinbach, the Browns may be willing to gamble on underachieving Cardinals OT Leonard Davis....

Browns target few free agents

Clements from OSU appears to be the best cornerback available

By Patrick McManamon

Beacon Journal sportswriter

The pickings are slim, but the money's aplenty as the NFL heads into free agency, 2007 style Friday.
The annual signing period that makes average players into millionaires begins at 12:01 a.m. Friday, and the Browns are like the other 31 teams in the league: sitting with plenty of salary-cap room and looking at a largely uninspiring list of players.
General Manager Phil Savage said at the NFL Scouting Combine last week that the team probably won't be as active as a year ago in terms of numbers of players.

This could be a prevailing problem with signing free agents.....:sick1:
Well I say if they don't want to be Browns then to hell with them. We will win the superbowl without them! :box: :banger:
