Cincy -2.5 at USF (ov/un 49.5)

Sorry bro, the espin folk have me a bit on edge.

I'm curious if the BCS folk would try to put OSU & Cinci against each other if OSU ended up as an at-large bid. It would be an interesting matchup, but would set up a lose-lose for OSU. Just thinking out loud...

That's been discussed in one of the who knows how many threads that talk about bowls. Realistically, it could only happen in the Rose (If USC or Oregon makes the Title game) or in the Orange (if VaTech or Miami makes the title game). So it's very unlikely this year..

WVU is a trainwreck. Don't know about Pitt.

Pit is a tough matchup for UC...they will be the only team left on the schedule that will make a concerted effort to line up and run the ball directly at UC's defense. That will cause a lot of problems for the Cats.

All that vCash bet on UC to cover sure looks like many thought it'd be an easy USF win :!

That's misleading. There were 9 bets on each team, so it was very even among vBetters on which team was going to win. I bet 50 million on Cincy, so that made the dollars look one-sided.

I won't....

but, please be fair in your assesment...Many OSU fans called for USF to win this game easily...

UC went on the road against a ranked conference foe and won by double digit points after its best player left the game with an injury.

Yes, it is a big win towards wining the Big East. But no, it is not USC.

USF began the game with their senior QB already on the sidelines.

I actually used to pull for UC but they went from pathetic to obnoxious in about 6 months. Fuck 'em.

A few thoughts

  1. Is this a cheap shot? Perhaps, but that doesn't mean that it's not true. Where did they find Pike? He looks like he should be running a meth lab in West Cincy, not quarterbacking a top 10 team.
  2. Cincy is a real team. USF came out and dominated the first ten minutes. Cincy didn't fold. They came back out, started playing defense and--even after their qb went down--took over that game. I do NOT believe that an undefeated Cincy team deserves a spot in the NC game ahead of a one loss Texas, USC or Florida/Bama/LSU. I do believe that they're a legit BCS bowl team provided they beat Pitt, Illinois and WVU.
  3. Kelly is the real deal. God, I love his offensive mindset. He gets into the red zone, and he fires away at the endzone. Love it...
  4. ...and it scares the [censored] out of me what he'll do with Notre Dame talent next season. Ultimately, Cincy is a flash in the pan. They are Kelly and will go no further than Kelly. If you're a UC fan, then root real, real hard for Notre Dame tomorrow. Fat Bastard gets blown out, and Kelly is in South Bend next season, and UC becomes just another Louisville/Rutgers.

To be fair to Fowler, I think he was just saying that it would be good for college football if we had a good intrastate rivalry, and that Cincy would be better than Toledo or Youngstown State because Cincy is a BCS conference team. I don't really think they were knocking on us. I think he said it was pretty controversial that they jumped us for a week in the polls.

I agree with the 1-loss SEC Champion being ahead of Cincy, but I'm not sure that holds for a 1-loss Texas. The Longhorns' non-conf schedule of La-Monroe, at Wyoming, UTEP, and UCF bites a big one. And they won't get much of a bump from beating Texas Tech or Oklahoma State, since those teams are down from last year.

There's a notable sympathy factor for Texas due to the tiebreaker leaving them out last year, but they control their own destiny right now. With that weak non-conference schedule, if they drop a game along the way, I don't believe they should get the nod over an undefeated BCS champ like Cincy. I don't think the Big East is that far below the Big 12 this year.

That team is called Navy. They were a good second tier team in addition to a tougher opponent than 90% of America is willing to schedule.

Well, I can see the "controversy" he speaks of being stirred up again after they jump over us again Sunday lol
