Cincinnati Reds 2023 (sell the team Bob)

Dare I say things are looking up for the Redlegs? Won 5 out of 7, still very much alive in the playoff races and that's with the rotation severely underperforming. Bunch of good young players and prospects getting close.

The Reds are looking better. They pile on the hits, run aggressively from base to base, not so many strikeouts and double plays. I didn't get to see any of this series, but that's the impression I get from the box scores. More emphasis on making contact and putting pressure on the defense. Still can't compete with the likes of the Yankees, but moving up.

I think the Cubs are 70's Cubs bad this year and what a pleasure to watch their demise. Nice to hang an 0 for 5 on Happ.

Moving forward, it's probably necessary to replace Bell with a good manager if we are to win a pennant.

They piled up something like 45 hits in the series so you have to love that but ultimately they need more power. Good news is that CES and EDLC both have some thump and will be called up at some point.

If you look right now the Reds as a team have the 27th (worst) ISO and are 24th (worst) is K%. You can't have that much swing and miss in your game if you don't have the power to offset it.

Just pointing it out as a thing but they are interesting again. I'll take it. It's been so long since I could enjoy watching them, I am just going to enjoy the ride no matter what.

Yes, I definitely feel you. Harkening back to the 2011 playoffs, I vividly remember listening to Jay Bruce battling that modern day Gene Garber closing for the Giants with 2 runners on and down 6 to 4, bottom 9th. He fouled off about 8 straight pitches, then flew out to left. I felt the electricity in GABP until that last out. :( I remember thinking, welp we get Bruce and Votto back at it next year, but the next year got fucking no-hit in the playoffs by Holliday. It's been downhill since then except for 2021. So yep, it would be great to get that BRM out of moth balls, continue destroying pitching staffs and regenerate some electricity at home games.

NL player of the week: Matt McLain. Bravo young man!

I'm excited for this series. Red Sox vs Redlegs should be an annual staple considering the histories and epic games in the past. That kind of thing might actually make me love baseball again.

Edit: McLain commences to get a hit in his first at bat, which is 5 in a row AB, and 8 game hit streak.
