Cincinnati Bengals (Same Ole Bengals)

Honest question as an outsider, they have Mixon and Barnard. I know they think Barnard is brittle, but why not run more like the Browns do (or at least did this week)? If the line is so terrible in pass coverage (and they are), maybe they’re better run blockers? Isn’t it better to get Gio killed than Burrow?

Bernard is not super injury prone to my knowledge outside some past week to week injuries that a RB in the league is bound to encounter. But to your question, the OL might be as bad at run blocking as it is pass blocking. Mixon typically has zero space and is often getting hit before he hits the LOS, or right at it. Point well taken that throwing 50 times a game could get Burrow killed and we have to run the ball, but it's just not effective at all. Best chance for our RBs is throwing them the ball on screens and other short routes. Either way, really concerned for Joe's health with this OL... even Taylor acknowledged the OL is a huge problem in his press conference. Losing Sua-Filo at guard turned out to be a huge loss, the rest of the interior OL is a nightmare.

What are Bengals doing..develop Burrow don’t kill him. 4 -11-1 with a healthy Burrow is better than 5-10-1 with an injured Burrow. They’ve clinched last in their division build for the future..Save Burrow..

I'm in full agreement there. You know the staff will preach that a wildcard run is possible but with zero wins after three weeks, we might want to adjust to get Burrow experience without killing him. Problem is that calling any pass other than a quick screen or slant is essentially a death sentence with this OL.

Redmond looked surprisingly good for a guy they cut before the season. Was really impressed with Jonah Williams as well.

I was thinking the same thing, he was seriously kicking some ass up front. And Williams looked markedly better, although not facing Joey Bosa or Myles Garrett every snap helps.

I'm not going to plan a parade for beating the Jags. But the team does seem to be improving each week and how the hell can't you get excited about Burrow? That dude is the real deal and I hope we get the right guys around him. Burrow is a guy that could take us on a deep run if the rest of the team fills out, I will keep watching every week if Joey is playing. I will say though that as much as I love AJ, he is washed up...need to just go Boyd, Higgins and Tate from here on out.

Yep, it is hard to watch him these days. He is slower and his routes don't look as clean as they once did. Everything looks good...minus the O-line and the defense. Other than those small things the Super Bowl is on notice.

I noticed Redmond as well, he really stood out (for once in a good way). Might just stick with him inside. And Williams is basically in his rookie year if you think about it. Getting acclimated with the likes of Bosa, Garrett and Cox is a brutal way to have to get back into playing football. Hopefully he keeps improving each week and looks like the 1st round tackle we were counting on.

Yeah I know, really was hoping Green would be somewhere in the ballpark of where he was at when he was elite, though I knew he would probably be not quite there in his 10th year. He's way far off that mark and I'm not sure we'll see much improvement at this point.

On the OL, I didn't even recognize that unit from the first 3 weeks of a shit show we saw. I saw a lot of push in the run game and they protected Burrow nicely. Have to discount that a little with the caveat that it was Jacksonville, but they're not exactly chopped liver and I saw actual improvement. The defense was still looking shaky and inconsistent, we gotta get some combination of Geno, Waynes, Alexander and/or Daniels back and healthy. The secondary is struggling minus Bates (who is having a stellar year btw) and Geno's absence inside is obvious.

In any event, fun to watch a win for a change even though this team should legit be 3-1 right now.

That was fucking pathetic. OL is a burning heap of garbage and Green has given up. Defense held up as well as it could with no help. Burrow got murdered every play, though sometimes it was on him. That looked like a JV high school team trying to play Ohio State. We're so far at the bottom of the AFC North it's comical. Burrow in for that high draft pick and please don't fuck it up and start winning now, season is over in terms of record.
