Cincinnati Bengals 2014 Thread of Frustration

Hunt has looked really good in preseason to me and the difference between him and Johnson may end up being negligible imo. The front 4 is going to be beastly with Dunlap, Peko, Atkins, and Gilberry. On the Atkins score, he's back at full strength now and reportedly has not lost a step. Plus Geathers is healthy again on the end and I think one of Still/Thompson will step up and play admirably in the rotation. Honestly, the front 4 is the last thing I am worried about this season unless injuries decimate us. Only real thing I am worried about on defense is LB depth...I think Burfict, Mauluga, and Rey/Lamur will be a great group. But an injury or two and we could be screwed. I would like to think that Schaeffer, DiManche, Flowers, Porter, etc. could step in and do well, but there is zero track record there. Oh and I guess I am also curious to see how Guenther replaces Zimmer...tough to replace that guy.

The real question for this season is the offense. I think we've added some weapons and while I refuse to be overly optimistic over Dalton, he has looked DAMN good in camp and preseason...honestly looks like a new QB. But of course that needs to translate to him actually performing when it matters. If he does, I like this offense very much, especially with Hue Jackson's up-tempo offense...I think that fits our personnel very well.

The more I watch this team, I think the defense is good enough that basically Dalton just needs to not totally fuck it up for us to make a deep run in the playoffs, which of course is far from a given. The defense is elite and it has depth (other than maybe at LB, we need Burfict and Mauluga to stay relatively healthy). We have a very good OL and enough weapons around him where he does not need to be a hero every week. Plus I think the no-huddle that Jackson implemented is going to enhance the talent we have. I'm cautiously optimistic about this team taking the next step.

Keep seeing these Madden ads here on the site that take you to a gif maker. Made one. Amidoinitrite?

Aw damn, iOS killed the animation.

And yes, to echo the previous post, can't lose Dalton. If Campbell had to start for any extended length of time, I'd unban Tibor75 just so we could all unwind with his skillful mockery of what the Bengals would become.

I thought that was a very encouraging game. The new offense looks incredible, Hue Jackson really kept the Ravens on their heels the whole game. Obviously we need to finish out drives and score, but moving the ball was no issue. The Gio-Hill combo could be pretty deadly and I love how we utilized everyone in the offense. The defense really looked incredible and I was very impressed with the depth at LB when Burfict went down. That being said, he has to be healthy for us to be a top 5 defense...dude is flat out incredible, perhaps the best LB in the league right now (at least deserves to be in the discussion). I was worried about having two new coordinators but both Jackson and Guenther called a very impressive gameplan imo. It is only one game but after watching Cleveland and Pittsburgh, I feel we are far and away the best team in the AFC North. Of course we are the Bengals and we could find a way to squander it though.

Eifert out for a month at least it seems...injury looked bad but seems the dreaded dislocated elbow happened, big bummer because we were banking on him big early on. But the silver lining (that I know will be appreciated here especially) is that Sanz is going to have a chance to step up big in his absence. Sanu likely moves out to the 2nd WR spot and Sanz is our slot guy with Gresham at TE exclusively. Not ideal but pretty safe to say I damn confident with Sanz out there. I think we are fine and we'll still keep up the production on offense, just stay healthy defense.
