Cincinnati Bengals 2014 Thread of Frustration

And this was the worst officiated game I have ever seen, bar none. That entire crew should not have jobs next week...they did everything short of physically taking the ball and running it in the endzone for Carolina.

No doubt Nuge should have made the FG and he is probably having his worst year as a pro. I will give you all that. That said he was 3/4 today and I wouldn't say he cost them the game. I still think that Dalton missing a wide open Sanzo and the play calling on that last drive that took jack off the clock and allowed Cam plenty of time to drive down the field to tie it, was just as critical in the outcome.

Hero or goat was reference to good old Charley Brown....I wouldn't want to be a kicker

Haha I totally missed that reference. But yeah, if we run the ball 3 downs and get the FG the game is over...huge mistake leaving that much clock. As for Nuge...I really hope he is just having an outlier beginning of the year because he is one of my favorite Buckeyes ever, but it has cost us big thus far, or almost has...Atlanta should have been a blow out except for a 1 of 4 Nugent showing. I gave him a pass because of his prior consistency but after today he better be flawless if he wants to remain a starting kicker in the NFL.

As for Dalton...I'm not sure which play you are referring to? Not arguing, I just don't recall that play. And even then, one incompletion versus his 33 completions is hard to argue, especially given what he had to work with today. Dalton was head and shoulders above everyone else's performance today and this season for that matter, so I can't really pick on him (even though that is literally my favorite thing to do every fall). His body of work has far outweighed his mistakes so far.

Seems like a pretty reasonable guy, tbh...

Marvin Jones out for the season...ugh. Looks like Green will be held out again as well. Picked up Greg Little and even more interesting, Pryor came to try out at WR for us. Really going to need Sanu to keep playing tough and get Eifert back soon. Even more worrisome is that Mauluga is likely out for awhile, Lamur is out for a week or two, and we know Burfict can't shake injuries even though he will play Sunday...we might be without our entire LB corps at some point on Sunday against one of the best offenses in football. Also, Thompson will likely still be out at DT on Sunday, as well as Zeitler. I'm not sure if I am looking at our roster or a hospital patient sheet anymore. I just do not see a way they pull out a win against Indy...our backups have stepped up nicely but at a certain point you can't expect your practice squad and Andy Dalton to beat a top NFL team.
