Cincinnati Bearcats (Juggalos official thread of Faygo)

Juggalos in court:

Cincy QB says racial slurs preceded punch that KOd victim

Back in late October, backup Cincinnati quarterback Jarred Evans was arrested on a misdemeanor assault charge and suspended a short time later, even as head coach Tommy Tuberville said “there’s a good chance he’s not guilty.”

While Tuberville’s player is not denying there was a punch thrown, he is saying there was something that triggered it.

Testifying in court Friday in connection to the charge, Evans alleged that the victim, 20-year-old UC student Ryan Smith, was part of a group of males who began harassing him and his girlfriend, 22-year-old Jennifer Dunlap. According to Evans, the group, or someone in the group, was directing “n****r lover” comments at him and his girlfriend; Evans is black, his girlfriend is white. Evans said in his testimony that he tried to ignore the epithets, but the situation ultimately escalated.

From the Cincinnati Enquirer:

Eventually, Evans responded: “I told them, ‘I will f**k all of you up if you come after me.”

Soon after, he testified, one of the men stood in front of them, blocking their path.

“He flinched at me with his hands up,” Evans testified, “and I just reacted with a punch, a jab.”

The individual who was on the receiving end of the jab was Smith, who sustained a concussion and lacerations that required stitches. Smith had previously testified that he wasn’t with the group of men who were harassing Evans and Dunlap. Oddly enough, Dunlap’s roommate, Courtney Gravett, backed up Smith’s account, testifying that the victim was not a part of the harassing group and that she tried to stop Evans from confronting them.

“For no obvious reason,” the Enquirer said Gravett testified, “Evans struck Smith, who had his head down and his hands in his pockets.”

According to the paper, closing arguments and jury deliberations are expected Monday.

Evans, incidentally, remains suspended from the football program.

Lance,
I am 64 years old and the Reds have always been my team. I am also a proud UC graduate. I have been a season ticket holder for UC football for years. This season my family added Reds season tickets. We were so excited. WERE excited. We aren't any longer.
I am writing to express my extreme disappointment over what is taking place at GABP tonight. It is Opening Night, a night to celebrate the start of the 2015 season. It's a night for many that can't get Opening Day tickets to see their team play. The Reds have done a wonderful job of making this night special, with a red carpet, live music and fireworks. So why is the Ohio State football team in town and invited to the celebration?
Lance, Columbus is 107 miles away. Why would the Reds share their night with OSU football players and coaches? It is an insult to Reds fans, UC fans and the UC football team and coaches.
This is OUR town. Reds, Bearcats, Musketeers, Cyclones. We have TWO football teams in town. How dare the Reds roll out a red carpet for outsiders and competitors. 80 of them? 80? 80 players, coaches and support staff will be on hand at GABP tonight?
Was the marching band not invited? Hell, why not have them dot the I behind second base? OSU refuses to play us here. They back out of contracts. They run from us. And the Reds reward them?
I even read the Reds are going to present OSU with a first of a kind "Reds Country Athletic Achievement Award". What?? Urban and members of OSU will also throw out ceremonial first pitches? I even heard that Ezekial Elliott plans to wear a St Louis Cardinals hat tonight, for his hometown team. How dare he!
Maybe the Reds can offer the players free tattoos on the concourse! HAAAAA!
It's bad enough we have to hear OSU fans whine about coverage in this city. Now we have to watch the Reds provide a platform to celebrate OSU tonight? Not me, I won't be there. We have tickets. We refuse to go. I am trying to sell my tickets. I will not step foot in that ballpark tonight. I will also have to consider if I even want to continue attending games at GABP.
It is shameful what the Reds are doing to Tommy Tuberville and his coaching staff.
Do the Reds realize the attention, coverage and recruiting help they are offering OSU tonight? That is not fair. OSU football is in the paper today, being talked about on the air and will be shown on the local news tonight.
Why not honor UC football for winning another conference title and making another bowl appearance? There is a lot of positive stuff going on around Clifton. The renovation of Nippert will be a huge help to the program. Yet, the Reds invited OSU to our town and to that tax payer funded ballpark? I ask you this, has OSU ever invited the Reds to the Horseshoe? Has a Reds player ever dotted the I or flipped the coin?
I know, you will tell me to 'get over it'. I can't and I won't. It's not right and it's not fair. I hope the Buckeyes get booed tonight. Booooooooooo!

John H, Anderson Township

This clown is apparently my neighbor. To their credit, even the other UC fans in the comments think this guy is a whiny little turd.

I still insist there is not as much OSU hate here as others profess. Rather, there is a small minority of juggalos who just can't keep their stupid opinions to themselves who give the impression that they speak for the entire city.

^^^ It is people like this that make it impossible for anyone (outside of Juggalo nation) to take UC football very seriously.

Incidentally, I work with a UC grad and a few weeks back we were talking college football and I made a flippant remark about the Juggalos. He had not heard UC fans referred to in that manner before then, but he thought it was funny.

This just furthers the argument those who live outside of Cincy have of Cincy being an extension of KY, or different than the rest of Ohio. Like @jlb1705 said, it's a small minority that feel this way, but a very focal minority unfortunately. There is a lot of OSU hate down here, but there's also a large alumni base and those of us who didn't attend but have been fans for years. Idiots like this unfortunately get backed by a number of radio personalities down here(Mo Egger, for example comes to mind) who feed into the hate for OSU as well. I can't even listen to the local sports talk radio down here because I'm not a fan of any of the teams, and even after the NC whining was heard that Meyer doesnt pay enough attention to Cincinnati. The Juggalos are a sad sad fan base with a inferiority complex. This could've been a halfway deent rivalry if UC didn't shooting themselves in the foot and avoiding OSU. This could've been a football and basketball rivalry and kept money in the state and been an interesting and entertaining rivalry that was kept friendly, but idiotic minority sees it as an insult to even be around the Buckeyes

There it is again: "they refuse to play us here".
1. Not QUITE what he's saying, but the "refuse to play us" thing is funny. I posted somewhere else (probably in this thread) that Ohio State has played Cincinnati more than any other non-conference opponent, except maybe San Diego State, since the late 90s. How is that REFUSING to play them? FACTS!
2. "Play us here" is also funny. Ohio State has played in Cincinnati twice (counting the spring game last year) since 2000. That is more than the number of the rest of the times Ohio State played a game in the state of Ohio outside of Ohio Stadium.

huh...that's dumb. Fuck ESPN.

I think even more than ESPN, it's about money and MLB milking it from big markets. Starting the season in Dallas, NYC, Boston, Chicago, etc is more lucrative than starting it in Cincinnati. Many people outside of OHio didn't even know that the Reds started off the season anyway.

FWIW Lance McAllister is a fuckin hack. One of the things I don't miss is having to listen to his stupid ass show when I lived in Springfield....

i know for a fact that Fred Taylor wouldn't book 'em, especially after 61 and 62.

Kind of lost the latest round, did Ohio State give them a mill to move the game to Columbus?
