A little dated but perfect proof that Cincy is following the Rutgers model to a T.

UC Athletics Eliminates Financial Aid For Two Men's Sports - CINCINNATI OFFICIAL ATHLETIC SITE

Rutgers also gutted and canabalized the rest of their athletic department based on a couple of seasons of transitory glory in order to pursue dreams of becoming a big time football school before sinking back into mediocrity.

Buncha fuckin' glorified mid-major asshats playing Thursday night games and trying to fill a 35K stadium. These are not worthy adversaries, Dude.

I don't recall seeing 'football' in that article from April. My understanding from conversations I've had with fellow alumni is that the cuts were made because of Title IX first and foremost and that the budget (which is stated in the posted article as being over) is not big enough to add women's sports so they could balance the scholarship pool.

Yes, it sucks, too. UC's mens and Womens track teams have produced Olympians in the last two summer games and the program wasn't bad at all.

Not sure why this news got you all hot and bothered, ORD...if UC is truly 'little brother', why do you care?

By the way, I hate the 'Thursday' night game. I wished the conference would do away with it but, to be honest, since the Big East was gutted of Miami, Va Tech and BC, the only way to get exposure is to be the only game on that day/night and I have to give credit to the BE comish for at least trying.

Actually I have no idea...

Swear to god some of you act like a woman. Just because UC is putting a good team out there DOES NOT mean that OSU is any less of a program. It is the same thing if I say another woman looks fit, most woman will take that as I am calling them fat.

UC is not OSU and never will be, but they aren't bad.

They aren't a football school either. They'll be gone in 3 years at most. Ho hum....another pretender goes back to trying to finish 3rd in their conference.

Come on. Seriously? Considering the improvements on the campus, where they are located and the football facilities I am not so sure.

They can come back when they've done well for 5 or so years straight not one. Until then, I think we've all heard enough from their players, fans, etc. The old phrase "Act like you've been there before, even if you haven't," is totally lost on their players and fan base.

no, UC is not a football school. They are trying to become one, however. Some of us who root for UC are capable of seeing the difference.

Considering where the program was in the early 90's...I'll take a third place finish in a BCS conference in three years. I've seen 3rd place finishes in C-USA and can see the difference. :)
