Cincinnati Bearcats (Juggalos official thread of Faygo)

What's sad about this whole situation is that UC has a true high-major legacy to build upon in men's hoop. Bearcat basketball has been excellent in many historical periods, and may be rising again under Mick Cronin (though the jury is still out on that one). Yet instead of building up that basketball program as the cash cow, which many other schools (Duke, UNC, Kentucky, UConn) have done successfully, UC is wasting taxpayer dollars by embarking on a silly campaign, attempting to depreciate tOSU while spending recklessly on football based on a flash-in-the-pan outlier season.

Very disappointing.

Your jus jealos the suckeyez cant kep up in eder sport!!1!!1!!1!1!

Only kidding

Gunslingin' your way to a 3 point victory over UConn and WVU...

I really hope we get to schedule them again in a reasonable time, running them off the field would really be worth it.

I'll take a 3 point win over UConn and WVU over a loss to Purdue... But NO Reasonable Bearcat fan says the tradition at UC is better than OSU; obviously, it's not even close.. We bearcat fans simply want the nation (don't really care about those in cbus) to know that we are the best team in the state; we deserve some respect. Sure, the Big East isn't the best conference, but it is every bit as good as the big ten.. NO BIG TEAM HAS A SIGNATURE WIN, NOT ONE! The only reason big tens team are ranked high is because they beat another big ten that was already ranked high who beat no one...
Penn State's best OOC win: Temple
OSU best OOC win: Navy
Iowa best OOC win: Arizona
Wisconsin best OCC win: N. Illinoins
Nortwestern best OOC win: Syrac... O, no, they lost that one, Uh E. Michigan
Mich St. best OCC win: W Michigan
Illinois best OCC win: Illinois State
Michigan best OCC win: Notre Dame
Indiana best OCC win: Akron (lost 47 -7 to virgina, really?)
Purdue best OCC win: Toledo
Minnesota best OCC win: Air Force

So, the best OCC win by a Big Ten team ..... Arizona!!!!!! Wow, I guess that's good. As I said, the Big East isn't much better, but it's just as good. UC beat Oregon St on the road (first time since '96 a non conf opponent won at ORESU). OreSU is playing to go to the Rose Bowl. NO BIG Ten OCC win is even being considered for a BCS game... There IS NO OBJECTIVE EVIDENCE THAT THE BIG TEN IS BETTER THAN THE BIG EAST, NONE.... I hope and pray the Beavers go to the Rose Bowl and spank tOSU

We'll consider UC's football program once they establish a good program. Right now it is a fluke year. Yes, a fluke. Put together multiple undefeated/1/2-loss seasons with a strong Big East (i.e. national title and BCS contenders more than just two or three teams) in a row, and maybe you'll gain the respect you think you deserve. Until then, you are still the commuter school having a fluke good year. Get back to us in 10-20 years when you are still a dominant football power and then we can talk.

You better worry about Pittsburgh there skippy.

Because as of right now Ohio State is the STATES ONLY BCS BOWL BOUND TEAM.

I only bring this up because last year the inferiority complex in Clifton touted such on the front page of the University's website.

Here at Ohio State where Tradition and Championships are the norm we don't thump our chest about such menial things. (We pretty much live in BCS bowls, how bout you?)

I guess the BCS rankings aren't objective.

OSU 8
Iowa 9
PSU 11

UC 5
Pitt 15
WVU 23

UC had a great win at Oregon State. Other than that, what has the Big East proved as a whole. USF beat Florida State which seemed like a big win at the time....but FSU stinx.

See you in 2012. FYI-you should check out the main college football page on ESPN right now.

While I may not particularly care for the tone in this post....it is a fairly good one in that most of the major points are supported by facts.

This is the only part I don't agree with:

We bearcat fans simply want the nation (don't really care about those in cbus) to know that we are the best team in the state;
I don't see how the signs and advertisements have anything to do with the national perception. It strikes me as nothing more than taunting someone when it is known that it won't have to be settled on the field.

I mean, UC already IS getting respect. You're in the top 5, ranked ahead of perennial media-darling Boise. I can see playing the "No respect" card if you're ranked in the teens and behind teams with multiple losses, but you guys ARE getting respect. I mean, you're ranked AHEAD of OSU, so why act like OSU is getting preferential treatment?

I also just wanted to point out that Arizona (the big ten's best OOC win) beat Oregon State (the Big least's besst OOC win) in Corvalis.

So in other words, don't rip on Iowa for beating Arizona, when Arizona is every bit as good as Oregon State.

Why is that so important to you guys? Isn't it enough to be ranked in the top 5 and have an undefeated season? It seems that no matter what you guys do on the field, it isn't enough unless you get to trash OSU in the process. Ultimate little brother complex, I guess.

Your post focuses on OOC games, I notice. For good reason if you're a UC fan, I guess:

UC's best wins: #16 Oregon St., #23 WVU
OSU's best wins: #9 Penn St., #10 Iowa

The childish anti-OSU antics of UC players, administration, fans and media all say otherwise.

I find the "Buckeye State" T-shirts amusing. Why any UC fan would want a T-Shirt with the word Buckeye in it is beyond me.

I'll just have to get me a "Bearcat Killaz" shirt in 2012.

Power confrences tend to not focus on having a heavy OOC schedule...and, for the record, you must be an Elder grad or a GCL grad because your entire stupid argument is based on a typical Cincinnati GCL mentality that says 'we're better than you because our schedule says so'...even if 2/3 of the teams you play are DII or lower schools.

Power confrences, like the Big 10, usually focus on one heavy OOC game a year and playing 7 home games to fund the athletic budget. OSU's conference wins against Iowa, Penn State and Wisconsin dwarf UC's OOC win against Oregon State. Anybody who would argue any different is an idiot...not that I am calling you an idiot...but see your own post...

Look, I am a UC alumn and I root for my school. But there is no reason to trash OSU to root for UC. UC does not play OSU and they are not in the same conference. UC does not recruit the same players as OSU save for the highly rated talent in Cincinnati and, go figure, UC has yet to land one of those kids...and if Kelly leaves, which I fully expect to happen, UC won't get Matt James and you will be back in that hole in the wall you crawled out of last year....while I will still be purchasing UC football tickets as I have since 1981.

in other words: STOP MAKING US ALL LOOK LIKE DOUCHEBAGS WITH YOUR LITTLE BROTHER COMPLEX, ASSHOLE!

:mad1:

What will happen is that some Cincy product that Tressel offers will not get past admissions (a'la Javon Ringer) and will end up at Cincy. Watch them all jump up and down and pat themselves on the back for "taking" recruits away from us when that happens.

Like Isiah Pead?? I guess to clarify, we never really offered. But there was some interest. He chose Cincy, and then said in an interview he chose to go to Cincinnati because of their system, implying he could have gone to tOSU....which wasn't the truth. But some Cincy fans claim he chose Cincy over the Bucks.
