Even Woody Hayes might have lost a few teams. I remember the arguing at the barber in 1966, 1967, and 1971, but I also remember how he turned that around. I just don't think Holtmann will be fired, but I do think he needs to find his seat to be very hot for next year.

If I’m Gene Smith I’m making CCH an aggressive contract extension offer this offseason. Absolute worst case scenario is finding yourself having difficulty extending this basketball savant after the big turnaround next season.

Really? I must have missed something. Have there been several player arrests/suspensions? Is the program under NCAA sanctions? I've been looking, but I can't seem to find any confirmation of these things happening under Holtmann on the interwebs.
Do I think that the way this season has gone is awful? Yes. Do I think that if it replicates itself next year tOSU has to make a coaching change? Yes.
But do I think the program is out of control (see late-era Randy Ayers depths)? No.
I watch this team and I see a group of young men who have totally lost confidence, and no locker room speech or even a coaching change will immediately fix that. It will take time and leadership, both from coaches and players. Thornton may be the guy who steps up and becomes that leader, but its not going to happen this season. It appears the current upperclassmen have not provided any leadership. If Holtmann can keep the freshmen from transferring and hang onto the incoming class this may be a totally different team next year. I believe this year's struggles can be attributed to a lack of confidence which reared its ugly head when they ran into adversity and there was a leadership void among upperclassmen to help them through it.

TL;DR - Are there problems? Yes. Can we see a turnaround next year with Holtmann? Yes. Back away from the ledge.

I wish this was the last post on the subject because it's perfectly spot on, but I'm sure it wont be. The Purdue game this week is must avoid tv because fuck that place for starters and this season is in hell.

That's fair. I was referring strictly to the on-court product.
