Chris Holtmann (ex-tOSU Bball coach, HC at DePaul)

I can tell Buckeye fans three coaches we could reasonably hire who would likely win more games than Holtmann: Kelvin Sampson, Bruce Pearl and Rick Pitino.

Would you be proud to have one of these guys on the bench?
Is this supposed to be a trick question? I see no reason to turn down Sampson. Making some extra phone calls is a silly rule to have broken, I would have absolutely no qualms in hiring him.

And don’t make excuses about how tough it is to win in the Big Ten or point out how other teams also lost on their Senior Night.
.
The B1G is no better than 2 or 3 other conferences. There are plenty of talented teams out there not in the B1G that play good basketball. The tournament will prove it. Maryland, Nebraska and PSU's rosters are not on that list.

We have an AD?

Gene Smith cost the Ohio State football team a national championship in 2012 and should’ve been fired then. What sucks is that I think in roughly a year from now we should be looking for a new basketball coach and I don’t trust Gene to make the right choice. I don’t trust him to even make the choice to replace the basketball coach if the next season goes the way this one has.

Laughable take.

The only thing that I hope coach improves on a lot is the pick game. We're terrible at getting through picks and setting then on Offense. Result is wide open shots for the other team and blankets on our shooters

Back-loading COVID-related cancelled games, so that teams coming back from COVID have games every two days for a few weeks and then the B1G Tourney, is simply moronic. Ohio State were out on their feet the last few games. They will have something in the tank for Villanova.
Add to that the people in Iowa didn't realize that a winter storm warning in January might make traveling on the day of the game a little difficult, and maybe they should come in a day early. A lot of stupidity went into the tail end of the schedule.

This should put to sleep literally any question about Holtmann's status...

Wins 20+ every year, goes to the Dance every year, doesn't embarrass the University, and by all accounts runs a clean program. Fans who think he's even remotely close to being fired are kidding themselves, but they'll be right back at it if the Bucks don't win tomorrow.

This isn't about wanting more or even thinking you have a right to expect more (for whatever reason). They're simply not going to fire a guy who ticks all of those boxes, just because he hasn't made a Final Four run, yet.

People love to reminisce about Matta, but seem to have forgotten the messes created by O'Brien and Ayers before him. You can bet the Board of Trustees remembers.
