I was taught similar in the late 90's except you were additionally taught to wrap the legs and lift to take away their power usually ended up with your shoulder in their stomach on the ground unless the guy was way bigger then you. That usually meant getting run over as you tried to take away their power especially if you tried to do it without momentum.

The Chris Spielman way of tackling has always been the best way to tackle. See ball. Hit ball. Arrive with bad intentions instead of "hoping" to make the play.

I'm not saying try to go for a "kill" shot every play but if your entire body is in the tackle, the guy has to be ridiculously strong and agile to even add yardage if you get there with the right mindset. The biggest worry that I have right now is the poor angles guys are taking on tackling. Probably has something to do with broken tackles also.

I see what you are saying. As I watch todays players, they are bigger and stronger every year, both on the offensive and defensive side of the ball. An example that I saw, was the angle that # 6 Hubbard took on Zander Diamont in his TD run for Indiana. Just a little more speed and a better angle, I think Hubbard could have had him for no gain, but tackling in todays game has to almost be perfect execution. Better luck next time around I guess.
