(that number does not include shotgun weddings-or maybe people dont "shotgun" marry anymore?)
i suspect shotgun weddings are all but gone at this point. second, having a child out of wedlock doesn't mean the kid is going to grow up in a single income home. while i personally think if your going to have a child you should probably get married. i view marriage as a business decision rather than an emotional one. you are in essence combining two companies. not promising to have and hold.

ALL relationships are based on mutual need. friends, family or a fuck. everyone wants "something". if they didn't, they wouldn't be around. the sooner people acknowledge this fact the better off they will be.
as much as im sure its going to piss a large number of people off. fact is, there are worse things than death. most people don't realize exactly how bad life can get. we all see the "for $1.20 a day" bullshit on tv. but we forget while watching some gray hair whine about how bad it is in east bumfuckistan on our 50' lcd's that 90% of that shit is happening in our own back yard.
i believe very strongly that every male should be given a vasectomy at birth. if you want to have children you should have to prove yourself worthy of being a parent. NOONE has the right to force another human being to endure the living hell that is their life.
but back on subject. for the most part im against children out of wedlock. not because its "wrong", but because having a child is a financial decision. you as an individual (both individuals) who created that child "should" be looking out for a whole new #1. that said i have a hard time finding fault with the home life of any child not being molested, not being physically or mentally abused, and not lacking in the bare essentials required for life (ie food, water, shelter). the rest? an education, proper morals and the rest? thats just icing on the cake.
