Justin Fields, Chicago Bears 'just did alright' in NFL preseason opener against Kansas City Chiefs
Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields made his 2022 NFL preseason debut Saturday night in Chicago’s 19-14 win over the Kansas City Chiefs. Last year’s first-round pick out of Ohio State played the first three offensive series for the Bears — none of which resulted in points — and Fields told reporters after the game the first-team offense’s performance left a bit to be desired.
“I think it went alright,” Fields said. “I think overall we just did alright out there. I mean, we can get better at a lot of things, pretty much everything. So there’s always room to improve. We’re not perfect at anything; just improving overall.”
Fields finished 4-of-7 passing for 48 yards and was sacked twice. Chicago’s best drive with Fields at the controls was its third, which traveled 50 yards in nine plays and ended with a punt from the Chiefs’ 43-yard line.
“I think we can improve at everything,” Fields said. “Coming up on the ball, executing better. Of course, there were some plays where we didn’t execute as well as we wanted to. So just continually getting better each and every day and keep stacking those days.”
