Chicago Bears (official thread)

Oh that's just gorgeous by Justin Fields. Dude can run his ass off

Justin Fields Flashes Bright Bears Future in MNF Beatdown vs. Patriots

A sense of disappointment had to be creeping in as the Chicago Bears entered Monday's contest against the New England Patriots ranked among the NFL's bottom three in scoring and total offense.

Yet the franchise and its fan base should have left the 33-14 victory with a far greater appreciation of what quarterback Justin Fields can still become when utilized correctly.

Earlier this season, Fields didn't look any further along than he did a season ago, when his rookie season turned into a disaster for the quarterback, his coaching staff—which is now gone—and the team. In fact, the second-year signal-caller entered Monday's game with the lowest QBR and quarterback rating of any signal-caller with at least five starts not named Baker Mayfield.

The Bears staff wisely used its extra four days of preparation after playing on Thursday night during Week 6 to rework some of the offensive scheme, which proved to be highly successful.

Fields' athleticism became the focal point after being asked to work from the pocket far too often, especially behind a suspect offensive line and marginal weapons in the passing game.

Offensive coordinator Luke Getsy implemented more pocket movement, rollouts and designed runs to jumpstart the Bears' best offensive weapon by affecting both phases of the offense. It worked.

Robert Quinn, ex-first-round pick from UNC, traded to Philadelphia Eagles by Chicago Bears

Entire article: https://247sports.com/college/ohio-...iladelphia-Eagles-by-Chicago-Bears-196185988/

Here's a comment to the above article:
Joseph L. Graef: While the Bears will take on most of Quinn’s remaining salary, which is around $7.9 million, the trade frees up $18.2 million in additional cap space in 2023, per OverTheCap. For those keeping track at home, the Bears will have $134 million in salary cap space heading into the 2023 offseason, which gives Poles plenty to work with as he looks to address areas of need.

Just maybe the Bears will be able to acquire some additional offensive linemen/offensive weapons to support Justin Fields.

The Bears have finally decided to run an offense that plays to Fields’ strengths. And while they’re still not great, they’re at least a functional offense.

The Cowboys defense is really good. The Bears ran for 240 yards. Third week in a row with over 200 yards on the ground. Fields had 3 TDs, one running.

They still lost by a ton. But, progress.

2023 NFL Draft: Warren Sapp claims Bears will trade Justin Fields, take Bryce Young with No. 1 overall pick

"What I'm hearing out of Chicago is they're fixing to package him up, trade him for some other pieces and then go with the Bryce kid from Alabama," Sapp said on the "Boone Podcast" this week.

Sapp, a Pro Football Hall of Famer and former Super Bowl champion, later said, "there's smoke everywhere talking about them trading Justin Fields and going after Bryce."

I’ve only been in Chicago for 10 years, and only really co-opted the team in a meaningful way after they drafted Justin Fields. Started getting into it, getting excited about “the process”, etc.

I fell for the hype and sprang for season opener tickets for me and my dad at home vs the Packers. Bears got housed and looked absolutely miserable. Like - worse than last year bad.

I felt so angry watching that bullshit football (and paying what I paid for the tickets). I can’t imagine what lifelong Bears fans have been dealing with for decades. It was fucking atrocious. I mean… receivers running into each other on routes, lineman passing block responsibility to each other and letting defense through, scheme of outside screens when none of the wideouts our tight ends can block worth a fuck all.

I was offended - I watch a better quality of football on Saturdays with the Buckeyes.

ugh
