Chicago Bears (official thread)

Justin Fields had arguably the best performance of his young career, but the Chicago Bears came up short in a 29-27 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. It did not help that the Bears were penalized 12 times for 115 yards but Fields nearly led a comeback on the final drive of the game. Fields said he was calm and focused in the situation.

A missed field goal as time expired gave the Steelers the win as the Bears charged back. The Bears rookie said he wanted to be the guy that shows up in big moments and had to be each game. He spoke with the media after the game discussing the Bears coming up just short.

"My mindset was just like, 'It's time, we're here,'" Fields said. "You can either be the guy who always gets put in that position and doesn't show up, or you can be that guy who shows up in the big moments. That was my mindset, and I was just calm and just focused on showing up."

Just sayin': When Fields threw that TD pass to take a 27-26 lead with 1:46 remaining in the game you just knew with that much time on the clock Roethlisberger was going to get the Steelers in FG position to win the game.

Will Justin Fields start vs Packers? Matt Nagy making another mistake

Matt Nagy is jeopardizing the Bears’ future on his way out the door by starting Justin Fields Sunday night against the Packers.

Matt Nagy confirmed Wednesday that quarterback Justin Fields has been cleared to play and will start on Sunday night for the Chicago Bears against the Packers in Green Bay. Fields suffered cracked ribs a couple of weeks ago in a game versus the Baltimore Ravens. He has missed two games since the injury with Andy Dalton starting in his place.

Previously, Nagy has been very cautious with players returning from injury, sometimes giving them an extra week to heal. But with his job very much on the line, he is turning to the Bears’ future to right the ship.

There is absolutely no reason for Nagy to trot Fields out there against the Packers other than to potentially (and miraculously) save his job. With a Monday night game to follow, there would be an extra day of rest for Fields to come back then and return at home rather than rushing to get ready for Green Bay.

The Bears, the charter franchise in the NFL, have never fired a coach during the regular season. This is the only reason I can think why Nagy has not been let go.

Dalton is out tonight so it's all Justin, hope they dont get him killed.

Dalton probably wins a couple games this year that Justin wouldn't because he can run the offense and get the short and intermediate stuff the D gives you better than Justin. But, Justin gives the team a chance to win games they shouldn't because of his athleticism and the throws he can make that Dalton can't. Until the Oline gets a lot better, the Bears are a crapshoot each week with both QBs looking good one minute and like ass another.

If it was near any other QB than Justin last night, couple others also, that line would have given up double digit sacks. If he'd have completed the one to Jimmy Graham late in the 3rd after a ridiculous escape, it would be shown over and over again on sports channels. Alas, the throw afterwards was a touch low and didnt complete it. He makes his share of mistakes but damn if he doesn't make some serious plays too.
