Charlie Weis (ex-Kansas HC, ex-Fla OC, Notre Dame legend, UnDecided Schematic Advantage)

Man, with all the Dick Wad crap flying around I almost forgot about Charlie.. in light of NDCs pussy-rant I figured I would remind myself why I fucking hate all things ND:

"when asked which was more impressive, Weis' four Super Bowl rings or Jim Tressel's five national championship rings, the Irish coach raised his hand, motioned to the Super Bowl ring on his finger and said, "This one is bigger than all five of his put together."

He obviously was talking about the finger not the ring.

FOX Sports on MSN - COLLEGE FOOTBALL - Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis to hand play-calling duties over to offensive coordinator

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) - Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis, who built his coaching reputation as a play-caller while helping the New England Patriots win three Super Bowls, won't be calling plays for the Fighting Irish next season.

Offensive coordinator Mike Haywood will call plays so Weis, coming off a dismal 3-9 season, can concentrate on his duties as head coach.
...
Weis also wants to be more approachable to players. The Irish played more underclassmen last season and Weis was concerned some were too worried about getting yelled at by him. He hopes they will worry less when they get to know him better.

"You get it so that they know you better so if you yell at them they know that it's not personal," he said.

It does seem strange that a guy that many, particularly ND fans, view as an offensive genius is taking his hand off the rudder. I wonder how long that will last?
ND has to produce this year or else. I have a feeling the fed-up boosters had a say in this.

I think this is the perfect solution for what ails NoD. It is obvious that the woeful execution of the plays called was all the fault of the plays themselves and not of lack of teaching and preparation. With a new OC I'm sure the center will no longer snap the ball over the QB's head and that the O-line will block better, the RB's run harder and the QB's and WR's hook up more often.

It is becoming clear to me that CW also has a decided schematic advantage on the setting up of his coaching staff, what an innovation. Now if only that d#!@ed Ty Willingham doesn't screw this up, it looks like a return to glory for ole NoD.

The other thing this will do is allow CW to concentrate his efforts on the important stuff, like where he's having dinner.

if ND sucks this year again... he can put the blame on the play calling.
They have to be better , now as to sucking or not that will be left to see.. If Mr. Weis plays a lot of freshmen will he lose as much or more than if he used the experienced players?
They might have 4-5 wins Imo. Anything less and it IS charlies fault.
