ESPN - Weis to discuss Irish problems with Pats coaches - College Football

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Charlie Weis will do some serious self-evaluation after this season. Then the Notre Dame coach will let his old coaching buddies on the New England Patriots put their two cents in.

"I think that those guys would have no problem telling me what things I did right and what things I did wrong," Weis said Sunday. "I think those resources, those people, because we're close enough and have a very close relationship won't be afraid of saying to me, 'What the heck are you doing?' And that's what I want. I want somebody to be able to tell me, to say it like that. And I know that those guys would do that."

BB: "Well Charlie for starters your offensive players can't block, throw or catch. Your defensive players can't tackle. I'd start working on those things for next year."

CW: "Yeah, yeah forget all the bullshit, did you see how confused the Duke coaches were with some of my formations! I'm telling you Bill, they are complete fucking rubes down here in college ball. I'm just toying with these poor dumb bastards."

Whispered to recruits..."Don't believe all this nonsense about Charlie being self-centered. He's even willing to open himself to criticism from the pros. The real pros. Where they wear Super Bowl rings and talk about manly stuff. No doubt they'll be talking about what you can bring us too. Charlie's pro connections are just part of the schematic advantage he brings to us. Of course, it's not working this year because we don't have the right players and that's where you fit in..."

Any recruit stupid enough to believe such crap deserves what they get.

As an aside, isn't it so indicative of his ego? He goes to pro colleagues to talk about college players. Clearly, he still doesn't understand that his poor coaching is due to process-related issues as certainly as his weight is due to over-eating.

Hey, did anyone know that Charlie is fat?

This is a pathetic display, basically he' doing two things, one he's almost admitting he's not doing things right, almost. Second, he's basically name dropping, "no one should fire me, I know big name guys, not just the big guys I meet at my over-eating anonymous meetings!" This has to be one of the sadder things i have ever seen, an attempt to show change in order to preserve what people previously thought you were, an "offensive genius."

He's going to go talk to Bellicheck? That should be funny... "Bill what's wrong with me?"

"No idea, but we're a thousand times better since you left, no you can't have your old job back, maybe the Raiders will hire you next"

Weis voted Ohio State No. 1 and Georgia No. 2 on his final regular-season ballot in the coaches poll. The Buckeyes, however, will play No. 2 LSU in the BCS National Championship Game, Jan. 7 in New Orleans.

"They were 3 and 4 (the week before Nos. 1 and 2 lost)," Weis said. "Not that I'm a big fan of Ohio State or Georgia or anyone else, but if you're next in line and you don't play, and the two teams ahead of you lose, I think that you move up. I just don't know how you get penalized for not playing. I think right now if I were (Georgia coach) Mark Richt, I'd be out there whining today."

South Bend Tribune: Weis too busy with recruiting to tinker
