According to several writers on Notre Dame's College Football: Rivals.com - College Football site, Irish Illustrated, the team has completely quit on head coach Charlie Weis. I don't believe you can access the articles unless you are a member, but let me sum up for you what staff writers Tim Prister and Pete Sampson had to say.
Not at all surprising. Given Weis's remarks on the 14th about the current recruiting class, and how those comments reflect on the actual team that is out there playing for him. The players should quit, because their coach quit on them.DaytonBuck;932059; said:
So wait.....according to this, Demetrius Jones had to be enrolled at NIU before September 12th to make the cut-off to allow him to play next year. So that means he had enrolled at NIU and wasn't enrolled at NA from September 12th-September 15th, but was still going to practices for NA, and the first Fatty Weis knew of any of this was when he didn't show up for the bus trip?

Did I read that correctly?

Ex-Notre Dame QB Jones expects to play at N. Illinois

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) -- Demetrius Jones, the Notre Dame quarterback who lost the starting position after a poor performance in the season opener, expects to play next season at Northern Illinois following his quick decision to transfer.
Jones surprised Notre Dame's coaches by not showing up Friday for the bus trip for the team's game at Michigan.
Jones said he was stung by coach Charlie Weis' comments that freshman Jimmy Clausen had been the team's top quarterback but was not named the opening game starter as he was recovering from surgery to remove a bone spur from his throwing elbow.

and oh by the way... Most scholars believe that Jesus was born in April.
What any of this has to do with Charlie Weis is anybody's guess.
Jones regrets way he left

If Demetrius Jones could re-stage his exit from Notre Dame, he would add a few hugs, disburse a few thank-yous and find his way to Irish head coach Charlie Weis' office for a face-to-face meeting.
"I really am going to miss Notre Dame," said Jones, a sophomore quarterback who enrolled at Northern Illinois Wednesday, practiced with the Irish Thursday, went AWOL on Friday and begins classes at his new school today.
"I'm not sorry I went to Notre Dame in the first place," Jones told The Tribune via cell phone Sunday. "I learned a lot of lessons about life there. It made me a better person in a lot of ways. But the way I left was pretty immature. I've heard people say that, and they're right. I should have handled it better.

Yes, they are young, but this is still an offensive line with a center who has been starting since 2004 (John Sullivan) and an all-American candidate at tight end (John Carlson). Lots of teams entered the season with "only" two starters back on their O-lines, and none of them had a John Carlson to offset that. The Irish appear more unprepared each week. Everyone who has played them looks like a national title contender. It's gotten so bad that I got an e-mail from a Notre Dame fan who used to be a staunch Charlie Weis supporter, but who now writes: "Who was the bigger ND fraud? George O'Leary or Charlie Weis?"
Don't forget that they are still paying Ty this year, at least according to the ND blogs. Charlie ain't going anywhere for at least 2- 3 years. JMOBuckeyeskickbuttocks;932191; said:10 years.... 10 million...
