Charlie Weis (ex-Kansas HC, ex-Fla OC, Notre Dame legend, UnDecided Schematic Advantage)

Now at Northern Illinois, Jones said he was misled by Weis

Jones said he was stung by coach Charlie Weis' comments that freshman Jimmy Clausen had been the team's top quarterback but was not named the opening game starter as he was recovering from surgery to remove a bone spur from his throwing elbow.

"When I heard Jimmy was the No. 1 all the way through spring and that the only thing that was keeping him out of the lineup was his surgery, well that's not what I was led to believe going into the summer," Jones told the South Bend Tribune for a story Monday. "I thought I was getting a chance because coach Weis believed in me. Then I didn't know what to believe anymore.''

They have now decided that the 2008 schedule is "creampuff city" and with one more year of recruiting its all going to be ok.

2008 Notre Dame Football Schedule
Sept. 6 SAN DIEGO STATE
Sept. 13 MICHIGAN
Sept. 20 at Michigan State
Sept. 27 PURDUE
Oct. 4 STANFORD
Oct. 11 at North Carolina
Oct. 18 Open Date
Oct. 25 at Washington
Nov. 1 PITTSBURGH
Nov. 8 at Boston College
Nov. 15 at Navy (Baltimore)
Nov. 22 SYRACUSE
Nov. 29 at USC

I bolded the teams/games they will be playing either a superior opponent or in a dangerous setting. Butch Davis will have UNC to the "dangerous" dept very soon. Ditto Dantonio and I don't think any comment needs to be made about ND playing at Washington.

Anyway, thats 7 games no better than a push for them to win, 5 shuld be easy wins and a TBD. Mind you its NC contender or bust in '08 for these guys and they think that schedule is easy. If you win 4 of the 7 your still a 3 loss team and borderline to not even make a BCS Bowl.

Good luck with that fellas. BTW, hows the 'ol 3-4 defense coming along? Ever wonder why no major college football team runs it as their base D? Or are we still clinging to the idea of CW's genius and ND schematic advantage in every game?

Seriously guys, you have to feel sorry for a bunch of kids who have been left in this mess.

To quote the old adage - aren't they getting a free college education? At ND no less?

I am waiting patiently for the other shoe to drop.

Aren't all those recruits from the upcoming class coming to town for official visits? Won't ND host them for a big home game? Maybe USC? Won't they get to mingle with current players? If this team has really quit on Weiss won't that be tough to hide in one-on-one conversations among kids?

How can Charlie find time for a fall practice redo when he has to be on the phone with recruits 10 hours a day trying to explain why he has done to the ND football program what we have done to Iraq?

I may feel a bit sorry for the kids on this years team, but if the one's coming in sign their LOIs they own whatever they get.
