Charlie Weis (ex-Kansas HC, ex-Fla OC, Notre Dame legend, UnDecided Schematic Advantage)

After today, I'm wondering who scores fewer points this year: Notre Dame or our opponents.

NoD. Like I've said, that is one of the worst CFB teams I've seen, period. Remember backyard football as a kid, where you'd just have somebody hike you the ball, then run around and try to make a throw? They might be better off doing that from now on with the "line" they have.

I think it is now officially N-tre -ame, because the have no D and they have no o either.

Charlie and the 3-and-out Factory is royally dicked this year.

If they don't get MSU they wont win untill November. MSU looked very mediocre today but NoD is just pathetic.

Hell at this point they might very well actually lose one of those November cupcake games. I knew they were going to suck but I had no idea it was going to be this bad.

Air Force showed a lot of grit the other night knocking off TCU...3-9 is definitely looking like a possibility.

Charlie Weis might be the worst head coach in major college football. Romeo Crennel might be the worst head coach in the NFL. Maybe the only genius in New England was Bill Belichick ... and the cameraman who was stealing signs all those years.

I know that talent plays a large part in both equations, but neither coach appears capable of getting his team ready to play. Prehaps Weis and Crennel are just two more guys who were great assistants, but lousy head coaches. Some guys just can't take a step up in responsibility, no matter what credentials they bring to the job.

Speaking of talent.... If the cupboard is bare in South Bend, it is largely Weis's fault at this point. In his first two seasons at the helm, Weis rode an excellent quarterback (Brady Quinn, a Willingham recruit), a very good wide receiver (Jeff Samardzija, again a Willingham recruit), a decent running back (Darius Walker, yet another Willingham recruit), and a cupcake schedule to a combined 19-6 record. But, even with one of the most talented signal callers in Irish history, Weis's teams lost every big game, usually in spectacular fashion. Now Weis is without his best players - the quarterback, running back, and receiver whom Willingham recruited and developed - and the situation is a disaster. This season, Ohio State has played eight true freshman, two of whom are budding stars (Brandon Saine and Cameron Heyward); where is the young talent for Notre Dame? Weis already has three recruiting classes under his overly-large belt, but his young players simply aren't developing.

And finally, is Weis losing his team? When the Browns traded their starting quarterback (Charlie Frye) after just one game this season, they were the laughing stock of the NFL. Now, Notre Dame's opening day starter (Demetrius Jones) has transferred to Northern Illinois after week two, an almost unheard of move. Will the other rats (or lemmings, if you will) also jump the sinking ship? Look for some more transfers before too long, and maybe a few de-commitments from the 2008 recruits.

Charlie Weis has the reputation of being an overbearing, pompous ass who publically brags about his own accomplishments and berates and belittles his players. I wonder if they believe in karma under the Golden Dome?

Sadly thats what all of ND's message board fan base is hanging their hat on now. "We knew 2007 would be a tough year! 2008 and 2009 will be OUR time!"

Poor delusional saps.

LJB, couldn't have said it better myself. The fact that some are saying their troubles are almost 90% due to talent and 10% to coaching is mind boggling. Hello?! This is college football! It's 100% coaching - ALL THE TIME! These kids are still learning to play the game. The responsibility of the coach is to select and develop their talent. Something Charlie apparently can't do.

Never in his 6, now going on 7 years at the helm have I ever been more proud and happy to have Jim Tressel on the sidelines. With major programs tanking and coaching staffs getting canned left and right, true leadership at the head coaching level seems to be hard to come by. We're blessed to have the best out there teaching, and leading our Buckeyes.

I dare say Notre Dame will have to fire Weis by year end to avoid the NAACP marching into South Bend and demanding to know why Cheeseburger Chuck gets a pass and Willingham was given the 13loop rope at three years with a better team and vision.

ND is in a tough spot right now. Thank God O'Leary is in Orlando.
