Charlie Weis (ex-Kansas HC, ex-Fla OC, Notre Dame legend, UnDecided Schematic Advantage)

The same percentage is true, but the number is only 58.3%. And you can throw Bob Davie into the equation.

35-25 .583 Bob Davie
21-15 .583 Ty Willingham (but it's still all his fault)
35-25 .583 Charlie Weis

So they've been a 7-5 team since 1997, or for 13 seasons since Dr. Lou.

And if Charlie goes 1-1 against UConn and Stanford, and gets fired before the bowl game, he will end up at 58.1%, with the worst record of the last 3 coaches.

In his defense, Holtz had a slobber advantage that made it slippery going for competitors. When it comes to excuses, Weis will always have that.

Sung to Danny Boy

Oh Charlie boy, the cheeseburgers, the cheeseburgers are calling
From glen to glen, and down your throat again
The summer's gone, and all the flowers are dying (because you sat on them)
'Tis you, 'tis you must go and I must win.
But come ye back when stupid NFL teams call
Or completely braindead colleges email
'Tis I'll be here in sunshine or in squal
Oh Charlie boy, oh Charlie boy, I loved your fail.

And if you come, when all the food is consumed
And I am dead, as dead as Notre Ame
You'll come and find the place where I am entombed
And eat my corpse; your hunger knows no shame.

And I shall hear, you thunderously from the grave
And all my dreams haunted by your expanding dimension
If you'll again tell me about your schematic advantage
I'll simply weep until you get another contract extension.

I'll simply weep until you get another contract extension.

I don't have the ESPN insider crap, but on their website they have a title saying "Wife's call if Meyer can say yes to ND." Wonder if he's going back on his comments earlier in the year that he wasn't going anywhere. Urban originally listed ND as his dream job. He worked as an assistant under Holtz and possibly Davies before making a name for himself.

There have been some fans that don't want Urban to come to South Bend, but at this point I don't see the university hiring anyone that doesn't have a proven head coaching career, nor do I see them taking an Assistant Coordinator from within the program. John Tenuta would have the most experience among the assistants, but with the performance of the defense this year I doubt they'd even consider him. If ND thought Urban would take the position, I would imagine the university would pursue him over any other applicants this year. It seems it would take sheer luck for Weis to win out the rest of the season and still not get bought out at this point. The only other scenario I would see is if the potential applicants to replace him were lackluster, they may just keep Weis on the payroll for continuity.

FWIW:

One of my clients is a UF grad and huge booster. He keeps tabs on all UF sports, but especially Gator football (in fact, I always enjoy our meetings because we always end with a good discussion of all things college football). I talked to him yesterday on the phone and we got into the Urban to ND thing. His feelings were that if he were to go, now would be the time since he has the UF program rolling. BUT, he also doesn't see him leaving since he is currently at a powerhouse of the perceived (his word) toughest conference in college football.

I personally do not see Urban going to ND. But then again, I also believed him the first time he reneged on his promise to stay while at BGSU. I guess we will see.

No matter what, Jabba the Weis should be fired at seasons end just for being an arrogant, overly obese, snot nosed braggart.
