Slow Harris enough to create at least some situations of 3rd and 5+, tackle in space and get off the field. Means stacking box on early downs and hero ball from Borland/Hilliard.

Even then won’t work every drive but hopefully enough for offense to keep / outpace Bama and move them off their preferred game plan in second half similar to how Clemson had to shift of their preferred early down runs.

The way I remember was ...

OSU hasn’t given up any TDs on a drive longer than 70+ yards with no “Chunk” players (plays over 20 yards).

I distinctly remember Fickell commenting that he wasn’t nervous about Oregon after scoring on their opening drive. Said that because the defense forced them into like 15 plays, he knew they would outpace them in the game. We did our best to force Oregon into errant throws through a monster DLine with a ball hawking secondary that was coming on after a slow start.

This is how I see it playing out, again. I’m not saying Bama is going to be a pushover but I’ll be damned if OSU isn’t coming in clicking with a hot hand. If each unit executes at least at 90% to start the game, this could get out of control quickly.

Oregon's OLine was terrible and the only passes they could run were bubble screens to WRs and check downs to the RBs. That season we played PSU, who did the same thing. Our DC figured it out in a hurry.

That’s an interesting way to think about it and something I hadn’t considered before. If, by stops you mean possessions with zero points then I guess I can see that.

To that point, turnovers could really swing this game and I hope the ball bounces towards the good guys.

Urban Meyer has been saying "...4-5 stops..." since the playoff field was set.

Yep, there were at least 3 more great opportunities for turnovers that didn’t happen in the Clemson game. Proctor dropped an easy pick on their last scoring drive (which I believe Sevyn Banks would have caught if Proctor hadn’t touched it), and there were two strip sacks that bounced to offensive lineman so Barbie didn’t lose the ball more often.

This game will again be a points-per-possession game, and the Buckeyes will probably need a couple of turnovers and a couple of punts/4th down stops in order to outscore Bama. But winning 45-40 is definitely a possibility.
