Game Thread CFP Semifinal: Ohio State vs. Clemson, Sat 12/31 @ 7p ET, ESPN

It has been a rough week for me. Been grinding on work projects and haven't really had much time to think about the game. I guess that's a good thing in some ways. I'm sure I'll have plenty of time over the holiday to drool over the prospect of another National Championship appearance.

Amped!

Due to all the recent social media posts and articles tOSU has been releasing, I did a Google search to see if Clemson was doing the same thing. And, if players/coaches, etc. were giving interviews. Hardly anything out there. I found more about some stupid slide they're building in The Athletic Center (BTW-What the fuck?).

Can you guess what I'm going to say next?

Should this be a concern? Also, why must we wait this long????

The last time panicked about OSU doing too many promos, OSU demolished a top-10 team by FIFTY NINE.
The uniforms are cool and all, but I'd like to hear more about the team. A couple pics is enough-- we're being bombarded. This is not a fashion show.

JT Barrett doesn't need to be doing photo shoots. He needs to be practicing. Mentoring these guys. I don't want ANYTHING distracting them from the game.

CLEMSON TAPS FORMER ALL-AMERICAN QUARTERBACK TAJH BOYD TO PLAY J.T. BARRETT ON SCOUT TEAM

Multiple Ohio State footballers raved Thursday about freshman QB Dwayne Haskins' scout team performance in the role of Clemson all-everything Deshaun Watson.

Clemson, however, went a different route Friday while casting the scout team role of J.T. Barrett. It took advantage of an NCAA bylaw pioneered by Alabama and tapped former All-American quarterback Tajh Boyd to play the wily Texan.

Urban has clearly lost control of his team. If only we had a coach who had experience prepping for a big bowl game

True (LOL....that comment caused a bit of controversy if you recall).

On a different topic...I was talking about this with my husband. Personally, I don't think this should be allowed--why should they be using "guest star" QB to train? Why is this acceptable??

Former Clemson quarterback Tajh Boyd, a key figure in the rise of the Clemson program in recent years, was back at Clemson’s practice this week as the ACC champion Tigers prepare for a College Football Playoff semifinal matchup with Ohio State, but Boyd was not there merely as a spectator or for words of encouragement. Boyd was there to practice as a member of Clemson’s scout team, taking on the role of Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett.

I mean, why don't we just bring in former NFL players or, heck, the Cincy football players so Fickell can multi-task?! Or, hey, why not Kobe Bryant or a couple of former OSU players??

For some reason, this doesn't sit well with me. I guess it doesn't "break the rules" per say. But, shouldn't it? It should be Clemson and the OFFICIAL coaching staff only IMHO. I think this toes the line in regard to cheating...

I guess Nick Saban does the same thing:

The idea of using former players to help out on the practice field has been a little bit of a debating point recently. Last month, Alabama head coach Nick Saban battled back at criticism he faced for using former Alabama players Trent Richardson and Blake Sims on the scout team. The NCAA does allow for former players to participate in practices, so long as the practice time is limited and not announced publicly beforehand. This has been criticized by some, including Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly.

FWIW Urban Meyer seems to agree (that it's wrong--or debatable):
