Game Thread CFP Playoff Cotton Bowl, tOSU vs Texas, Fri. Jan. 10th, 7:30 ET on ESPN

Anyone worried about motivation shouldn’t have that concern.

These kids have literally accomplished nothing as a team the last 3 years. I don’t think a rose bowl win is what they came back for.

They came back for the national championship. Sure we are the favorites now but I’d be shocked if we show up thinking we don’t have to go BTA on Texas.

This isn’t a good matchup for Texas. Both their tackles are banged up, they have a QB who isn’t mobile and has had ankle issues late in the year, and oh they couldnt run the ball on Arizona State or UGA. They got whipped up front by Arizona State and it’ll be worse for them this time.

This time they don’t get to play a QB who can’t throw the ball, a running back who had to take 3 plays off for every play on the field, and a team missing their best WR.

They couldn’t stop Arizona State and they won’t stop Ohio State. I’m glad their fans will get front row seats with what’s about to happen to them.

Ok, now you are confident and I am starting to get concerned.

Dang, my login still worked. Looks like I haven't posted in 5 years. Sup

Probably an unpopular opinion, but I really wish the Cotton Bowl was still being played at... the Cotton Bowl. Old, insufficient concessions, long lines for the pisser, outdoors and cold (by TX standards). But man it has so much history and character. Would love to be sitting there in 35 degree weather with a flask of bourbon to watch this game. That would be epic for this matchup.

But instead we get JerryWorld, the soulless stadium expression of Botox Skeletor himself. They'll have the roof closed so it'll be more comfortable. But meh, $30 beers and sterile private equity vibes sap some of the excitement. I'll still be there.

Good to have you back!

Traveling home to play UT in their house, possibly in the snow, might make twitter explode.

Welcome back!

I was just wondering if the crowd from 2005-2006 would show up

We rounded up some of Sarkisian’s most notable quotes from his first media availability of Cotton Bowl week below.

“It's a heck of an opponent in Ohio State. The job that Coach Day has done with that team, their staff, they're playing really good football right now. We know it's going to be a heck of a challenge, but looking forward to the opportunity.”– Steve Sarkisian on Ohio State

“I think we're going to be healthy and good to go by the time the game rolls around.”– Steve Sarkisian on the health of his team

“We're at our best when we can run it, and that gives us balance. And so I'm hard-pressed not to just kind of walk away from it and abandon it.”– Steve Sarkisian on Texas’ rushing struggles

“I need Longhorn Nation to show out in Arlington. We're going to need everything we’ve got to try to win this game. Clearly, we're massive underdogs. Nobody's going to give us a shot. So we're going to need all that we can to try to win this game.”– Steve Sarkisian on Texas being an underdog in its home state

“He's a much better athlete than people probably give him credit for ... He has good speed. He's got great poise and composure in the pocket. You can tell he's very bright.”– Steve Sarkisian on Will Howard

Sarkisian noted that Howard ran for a 71-yard touchdown against the Longhorns when he was Kansas State’s quarterback in 2021. Sarkisian also praising the Ohio State quarterback’s passing ability, saying “he throws passes where they need to be thrown, and guys make plays for him.”
“I just hope we're good enough to guard them. I mean, these guys are really good players. We'll find out.”– Steve Sarkisian on Ohio State’s wide receivers

Asked specifically about Jeremiah Smith and Emeka Egbuka, Sarkisian said “they're both big, physical players” and “we're going to have a hard time guarding them.”
“They're ferocious up front. They've got a great pass rush. Big on the inside, big edge players that are very talented.”– Steve Sarkisian on Ohio State’s pass rush

If we don't get breakdowns on LBs that run 4.3s, I'm leaving. What was that kid's name?

The poster was xrayrandy — I don’t remember the names of all the LBs that were going to keep up with Ted Ginn. Too many to name!

You are a 6 point underdog Steve.

Climb down off the cross. We need the wood.
