Game Thread CFP Playoff Cotton Bowl, tOSU vs Texas, Fri. Jan. 10th, 7:30 ET on ESPN

I only watched Texas twice in 2024 including their playoff game:

-Ewers looks really erratic at times; I’d go as far to say as he has played himself out of being one of the top 3 QB prospects for the draft; certainly not the scrambling/running threat that Ewers is albeit he can make plays with his feet. Georgia is the closest thing he has seen to our secondary and he wasn’t exactly lighting them up.

-really good OL; their LT got baked up yesterday with an ankle and if I’m mot
Mistaken is a top draft prospect at their position. We have the DL depth to throw at it; not like Oregon was trotting on walk ons.

-elite speed at linebacker; this we’ll be a tired subject throughout the week but they really are sideline to sideline. But if that little doofus of a bowling ball running back can tack on 130+ Judkins/Henderson is a superior attack; it’ll be hard but they should be able to do enough to contribute to the offense

-their secondary is really good; ASU had one threat at WR and they were hurt. Now they get to go on a date with 3 first-round talents at WR. We will see.

-overall Texas didn’t exactly put on an offensive clinic against ASU in regulation; the sun dicks got a LOT of full penetration against that Tejas OL in sacking Ewers and stuffing the run; their offensive skill looks fine but no one looked terrifying to me.

They’re very talented in all areas. I respect them as an opponent but I think we can do this. You come out swinging as hard as you can and snatch that early lead; force Ewers into a high volume of throwing and you just might get 3-and-ours early. ASU laid out a nice print for Knowles imo.
This. Once Texas went through their early scripted plays, they failed to do much of anything the rest of the game. And ASU’s defense is solid, but nowhere even remotely close to the talent level that Ohio State has. The key in this game is the same as the first two playoff games, come out with your hair on fire offensively, and force them out of their comfort zone.

I only ask, because my company has a satellite location in GP. Gawd Bless anyone who LIVES in DFW. I cannot stand the drivers nor the concrete jungle that is that metropolitan excess.
We moved here 20 years ago and live a little north of Dallas. It’s been a great place to raise kids. Sending mine off to TCU next year then will probably spend more time at the Lakehouse in Gun Barrel City when my husband doesn’t need to be in the office.
Gun Barrel City is also the most Texas city name ever.

Rat poison. They need to stay hungry.
There is a LOT of that rat poison today. So many articles and conversations calling the Bucks the far-away favorites - rightfully so. They are clicking and moving in the same direction. Now what do they do with it.

I prefer the underdog role but hopefully now this team knows what it takes to prepare for greatness, saw the result of these 2 games and they put everything they have into doing it for 18 more days thru Jan 20.

Ignore the good noise. Or Day needs to manufacture more disrespect.

Not really, because I want the team to be solely forward facing and focused on Texas, but I almost want the WHAC to be filled with all of the glowing headlines from November 29th and before and right beside that all of the headlines from December 1. Don't eat the rat poison. The media will leave you for the flavor of the minute and throw to the wolves in a heartbeat.
