Game Thread CFP Playoff Cotton Bowl, tOSU vs Texas, Fri. Jan. 10th, 7:30 ET on ESPN

A positive for the good guys is that we are pretty healthy going into this game. UT is a bit banged up on their OL and just had a long, hard, physical battle against ASU. I think we will be the fresher of the two teams. And after a very long season (UT has played one more game than us) that could factor into the outcome. GO BUCKS!
Go back and watch the last two games. Buckeyes are hitting harder and moving faster than the other guys. It is easy to see there’s nobody left that can outlast the Buckeyes physically. The field is tilted in our favor before the first whistle even blows. This coaching staff has been putting money into that account all year long and it’s paying back now.

No worries.

The Lunatic Fringe started using it after The Game.

Apparently Day got the message.

Herbie’s vag is still quite sore about it though
According to Zach Boran, JJ went to Hartline and said “challenge me”. Meaning, give me more responsibility, I’m ready for it. Boran said coaches’ default behavior is to protect even superstar freshman in their first year. It’s a lot to handle. I don’t believe Day got anybody’s message, I believe Brian and Ryan had a little conversation and now here we are.

You and Herbie‘s ob/gyno can discuss the rest of it.

I’m gonna point out one simple advantage that the Buckeyes currently have over their next two opponents. Just one advantage. I have no real idea how many points this advantage might be worth, but I’m pretty sure it helps.

When Tennessee walked out onto the field at Ohio Stadium they looked like they thought they were prepared. Unfortunately for them, as they were game-planning, scheming and coaching the players, they had no game film on the team that they faced that evening. Didn’t go well for them. When Oregon took the field in Pasadena, they only had one game‘s worth of film to study. I’m pretty sure that’s not what they used to design their aproach. Poor Ducks. Now Texas has two whole games worth of film to study. Do you think that will be enough? Do you think they’ll actually believe that they only have two game films to study? I don’t. Good luck Horns.

In a way it's very similar to what happened in 2014. I know some people may not like this opinion, but if JT Barrett stays healthy and Cardale never opens the offense up, I'm almost certain we don't take home the title. It was a dominant run game with the added deep shot element that Cardale brought to the table. Nobody had seen that (or had enough film to prepare for it) and it aided OSU greatly in that legendary 3 game run. That and the fact that Lane Kiffin decided Derrick Henry didn't need the ball.

There's still so much available offensively from a scheme/play calling perspective to build off of. If the guys keep executing and the coaches keep up this shit, it'll end the same as 2014 did.

I know this stuff is for giggles, but I have a hard enough time keeping track of what’s real and consequential as it is.

I will not, cannot join you in your world of sparkles.
Do have fun though.

edit: I had no idea that cat would be so annoying. I’m not taking it down though.

I forgot about it, but I think that thought crossed my mind at some point in the last two weeks. Thank you for proving how smart I am.:biggrin2:

I haven’t heard anybody talk about how the other playoff teams have resorted to pulling out trick plays. Commentators acting like they’re some cute tradition everyone expects in highly competitive games.

No OSU flea flickers, punt team swaps, or triple reverses yet. I can’t imagine we’ll be seeing any either. Four score leads keep those plays in the folder.

Hearing Sark yesterday and the Texas media today (asked ridiculous questions to the OSU players today insinuating Texas doesn’t stand a chance) is my biggest concern early. I think with how well OSU has started the last two games can be off set a bit by Texas maybe being fired up about being an underdog. Add that with OSU sort of riding out the game vs Oregon (unlike finishing strong vs Tennessee) and I’d be surprised if we start started on fire again.

I think with both defenses being good it’ll make a big difference with who can hit the shots down the field. So to your point who’s going to make plays on those 50/50 balls?
I remember a game not too long ago that we were 21 point favorites at home and still shit the bed. Anything can happen, I'm just choosing to believe we cracked the code on this team. Horns Down.

I agree… this team seems to be very different than the one that lost in the shoe vs TCUN.

every gripe we had with the offense was instantly corrected. We stopped running zone, we have thrown deep, we have went to our best over and over, we have been downhill, and we have been creative.

Literally a different team.
