CFP Playoff Committee justs makes s#!t up

Kyle McCord, OSU special teams, and a defense that couldn't get a stop in the second half today versus Georgia.

I get wanting to get in, and if we do I'll be right here to watch it, but if anyone seriously believes this team can win two playoff games I wish I shared your optimism. I just don't see it, but a CFP berth is still better than a who-gives-a-shit bowl, so I'll gladly take it if it comes.
Yeah, I don't disagree with any of this.

But any chance is better than no chance. I don't want to watch some bullshit consolation bowl that half our starters sit out.

hypothetical question... imagine that only one big ten team gets to go to the playoffs, and suppose that you stand the chance to win money (that you desperately need) if that big ten team wins.

which team, right now, would you pick to go: tOSU or TTUN?

i'm as much of a homer as anybody on this site, and i'm a "beat-TTUN and lose every other game" and all is well with the universe kind of fan. but... if there's money on it - money that i desperately need - i'm not sure i'd wager it on the good guys at this point.

and that's a shitty feeling, but it's the reality at this point.

It's also a worthy topic of disdain and ridicule with the results we have seen from the current staff on the field.

Look, all of us are pissed and emotions are still raw, hell I’m up because I can’t sleep.

But your opinion has been freely expressed many times in many threads. Every thread doesn’t need to be honored with your disdain and ridicule. Please make an effort to limit your disdain and ridicule to the Day thread, the Knowles thread, The Game thread, the offense thread, the defense thread, next year’s game thread, the Harbaugh thread, and/or the shenanigans thread. That leaves plenty of options, we don’t need the same comments in dozens of different threads. It’s a goal of this board to have discussions in their separate threads.

Last year after The Game, our fans’ feelings were nearly the same, and the Buckeyes were a missed FG from playing in a title game they would have been heavily favored in. So, yeah, this thread is going to exist to explain the possibilities of still getting a CFP berth.

I’ll probably be rooting for soon-to-be-B1G member Oregon.

There’s definitely Ohio State “fatigue”….its a bit unfortunate bc by resume, this team should be right there. Had we not gone so many times previously, I think the public narrative would be that the loss in Ann Arbor proves we are a top 4 team.

This year, the narrative is it was disqualifying.

I agree OSU doesn’t look as strong as years past (bc QB play is average). But resume wise, this is the strongest 1 loss team we’ve had.

Isn’t your lost to Michigan a better loss than texas loss to Oklahoma? Better strength of schedule, right?

Don't underestimate the committee's (and espn's) deep desire to ride the "Texas Is Back" trope into the playoffs. While I think that to any outsider, the UW-Oregon winner is a lock, I'm not so sure that if Oregon wins, they won't do some fuckery and put Texas in.

We're not getting in, and I don't think we should. That being said, my assumption is that our only chance would be the following: Washington, and Georgia win while FSU and Texas both lose. I think tcun is in no matter what happens in Indy.
