CBF40'S Look at '09 recruiting

We still gotta find room for at least one TE in this class...

I bet Sims will choose between tsun and MSU. Michigan has too much depth, even if Koger plays defense. MSU is perfect, if he is motivated by them.

Fragel is a good fit for us by virtue of his versatility and could end up as a tackle for us anyway. If he can prove that he's nasty enough, runs well and catches the ball sufficiently, I bet he gets an offer. He makes a big target for TP. But this all just a hunch, 45 knows better than me.

I agree with this, but you still need someone that is about 6'4, 6'5'' to play the TE spot and right now the guys we are are recruiting as linebackers aren't in that range...If we get Klein, Whiting, and Bell none of them are going to move TE...
so logic would say that the person(s) who will get the offer are still out there, sleepers or the staff has not decided on who it maybe...

i dont know who it maybe but id guess hes a road grader with pass catching ability..

Yeah I agree, I would just like to see someone step up and get the offer...

I just don't know if I see Fragel getting an offer...

I'm not attached to Fragel, I just feel we'll need more depth at TE...maybe even 2, sooner rather than later, especially with TP. Would like to know 45, if you can say at this point, why you don't see Fragel getting an offer.

1. As wad said...don't count Homan out of getting some reps at TE down the road. He is much more athletic than some people give him credit for.

2. I feel pretty confident in saying that I see Fellows as part of this class

3. Don't be shocked to see as many as 7 DB's in this class.

I agree, but I was thinking don't count him out at LB just yet...Many were saying the same things about AJ Hawk a couple years back...

Agreed...

I was thinking 6 would be a more reasonable number...7 is a little high IMO...

Yeah I know that...But we know what is there in Ohio and the surrounding states, and no one has really caught our eye...Just a down year overall for Te's...

I think he has a higher ceiling as an OL...OSU is probably going to be in the market for more of a "field-stretching TE" rather than another Nicol or Ballard (your more traditional OSU TE). Just my take on how things seem to be panning out. Not saying Fragel won't be offered, but going by the law of averages [that far fewer kids get offered by OSU than don't] I don't see it happening...

Here is an interesting option:

Possibly Homan, with Boren at fullback or maybe a sleeper in-state? I wonder if Carradine plays any TE...

Carradine actually did have a clip or two of him at TE on his film. If he has some decent hands his athletic ability would serve him well there. I also agree that Freigel isn't what we are looking for this year at TE most likely.

Fellows I'm not positive on. I guess it seems more likely than not that he ends up at OSU but I have to add at least a dash of pessimism to my predictions

With limited knowledge, agree that Fragel's ceiling is higher, maybe much higher, as OL.

I envision Stoney as a 'field-stretching TE' if there ever was one, (understanding he isn't considered a TE) and we have him for 3-5 locked. Nicol & Smith are gone after this season leaving only Ballard and Dilillo as only schollies left. Point being, that a field stretching TE isn't really a TE as we know it, especially as WR's seem to be getting bigger all the time. But don't you think we need one or two conventional OSU TE's just in case? Let me ask what do you all think of Hazlett and Talbert as possibles? I went to their respective threads, not a lot there, yet.

Some thoughts to ponder...

Still a question on whether we take a QB...No one has really said we are pursuing them...

Hyde's name has not been thrown around much after his talk about us being his dream offer...Still unsure on that one...

Hall could play DB...

Berry is absolutely blowing up...I hope he has a great visit this weekend, because he is going to be a 5 star recruit and have everyone after him...

I take Jackson and Green at WR and call it a day to go with Fields, but do we take that many, what about Hawthorne or Appleton, do we go after them, what about the other florida guys we might take a look at...I do think that Jackson is number one on the board right now tho...I would be happy with Fields and Jackson and maybe McGee here if we load up on DBs...

I have both Boren's as part of the class now...That takes a spot away from maybe one guy that would be in...Do we only go after 3 OL if we get Justin...I know Bollman wanted 4 in the incoming class...Who do we cut out, Linsley or Watt??...Lots of talk about him to Notre Dame anyway...We still take Shrive or Nixon if they want to come...

TE still up in the air...Need one for sure...Only have Ballard and DiLillo coming back after next year...

Lots of chatter on Fellows as Wad mentioned...I once again feel confident...Hope to see an offer to Carradine soon...I like a class of Fellows, Carradine, Muldoon, Simon, and Newsome...Then you still have questions about Adams interest and Bellamy maybe getting an offer...

I think we get Bell maybe this weekend and that closes LB recruting...

DB is going to be fun to project all year...Right now we have Wood and Barnett...I love McGee, he could play WR as well...Hall get talk about playing DB...What about Hunter he is from Ohio...Vlad getting love and will be here this weekend...What about Corey Brown?...Also have Banks as well...Wild card might be Telfort...Kid is a stud and could be the best player we go after...If he wants to come you find room...

I still feel 23/24 is the final number we will go after...We have 8 right now with Homan, Fields, Mewhort, Simon, Klein, Whiting, Barnett, and Wood. Still lots of maneuvering to see who else we might land...I think the staff could put the hard sell on a couple guys to either get them to committ or get left behind with so many guys looking good...

I have Berry, McGee, Fellows, Bell, Jackson, and Hall as the top 6 guys on the board that we are looking good for right now...Nixon and Telfort would be on the long shot wish list...
