CB James Scott (official thread)

What a nice surprise to come home to. Early Christmas present. Now, if I can get Anthony Davis, Ben Martin and Devon Still with the same committment nothing will top that except a win at the 2007 National Championship AND for the meaning of Christmas to be remembered

Yeah I just re-watched his highlights and on one particular kick return, he just blew me away with his explosive speed. I forgot how freakin fast James is just due to how physical of a defender he is. I did notice that his press man technique could use some work as he let the WR release inside a couple of times but he'll get coached up...it also makes it easy on the coaches when he is already so physical. I really think we got one of the best players in the country regardless of position. I don't even see him getting red-shirted. If he doesn't play a bit at nickel or corner, he will be an absolute terror on special teams. A great head-hunter on kickoff and punt and could return kicks as well. Oh and quick of the edge to block punts and kicks.

congratulations to james and the OSU staff on the commitment. this is one guy I definately wanted to be part of this class. haven't seen him play on film, but look at his offers and he could possibly be the best CB in America. Now if we can just get Barksdale, Martin, Davis, and Major Wright (Jer'Male Hines) to add to the class.:)

I believe when Coach Tressel comes knocking, its quite a visit. He is soo sincere, and humble. A very genuine man. I'd like to be a fly on the wall when he visits. I'll bet it worth it. Great pick up for the buckeyes. Again welcome Mr. Scott.

Tressel must be an amazing recruiter if he is able to get players who aren't even a priority for OSU.

In all reality, James was NOT a high priority at that time...there were numerous DB prospects that the staff was pursuing and James had already given a virtual silent verbal to the staff in August (I think August...but maybe September). That info came straight from Nate Oliver who told us all along that James was a done deal IF the staff would accept the verbal...as the cards played out, James did become a major prospect again and a player of need.

So, while your intentions are obvious, your knowledge is lacking...thank you, come again.
