Torrence said the process has gained steam over the last three weeks. Scouts show up so regularly, he's gotten to know most of them.
He entered this week batting .410 with six doubles, seven triples, 18 RBIs, 34 runs scored and 16 stolen bases. He's walked 26 times in 22 games.
Scouts describe the 6-foot-1, 185-pound Torrence as a raw talent with quick hands who is going to develop into his frame.
"Devon has those five tools they look for in high school players," Bourquin said. "That's what attracts scouts."
South's Devon Torrence took matters into his own hands the following inning. With one out, Torrence sent a shot into the right-field gap for a triple, then scored when Canfield botched the relay. The speedy senior never broke stride other than to make sure he touched third on his way to tying the game.
"Man, can he fly," Canfield coach Matt Koenig said.
