CB Devon Torrence (official thread)

Scouting Ohio

Video.

My Take: He is such a smooth athlete. I know we are recruiting him as a db and I think that is where he will end up, but he has great ability after the catch and has great size at 6'2' 195 to be a WR and if he grows any taller could have trouble with hip movement at DB. With the safeties in this class he might move to WR. Most clips were offensive side of the ball besides a couple that showed him making big hits. So there is no clips of him in coverage.

H.S. football: Divisions III, IV all-Ohio: Stark quartet on 1st team
Wednesday, November 29, 2006
A set of brothers, an all-purpose back and a dominant defensive tackle led the way for Stark County on the 2006 Associated Press Division III and IV All-Ohio football teams. Canton South's DeVoe and Devon Torrence each made the first team in Division III, as did Northwest defensive tackle Corey Tanksley. Tuslaw running back Ryan Travis was the lone county player to make the first team in Division IV.
The teams, released Tuesday, are based on the recommendations of a state media panel.
Devon Torrence is on the first team as a defensive back. The Ohio State recruit is one of the state's top cover corners, and he made two interceptions and 44 tackles. The senior also caught 33 passes for 460 yards and seven touchdowns.
DeVoe Torrence, a junior, makes the team as a running back. He rushed for 717 yards and 10 TDs on 89 carries, and caught 39 passes for 605 yards and four TDs. He also made 97 tackles, four sacks and 11 tackles for loss as a middle linebacker. He already has scholarship offers from Ole Miss and Akron.

With all this RoJo talk, I just want to shout out Devon for a second. If we land Ronald or not, I think Devon has just as much potential on either side of the ball. He is coming in at CB, but seems to have the game breaking ability at WR as well. It should be fun watching him over the next 3-4 years at OSU. I can't wait.

I'm with you. Devon was on the top of the list for prospects I wanted this year. He's just a playmaker and could make a huge impact here. I think he could be our next 1st round CB though it's still very early but I'm excited to say the least about his potential.
