I can't speak for everyone, but answer would not change. And I think we're closer than some realize to a kid sitting out a CFP game... The elite kids grow up wanting to play on Sundays not Saturday's, and CFB fans will never understand thatI compared the two because at some point it’s coming. Those same people that “respected” his decision to skip a pointless game will be asked the same question when the game has significant value (playoffs). Will their responses be the same?
a refresher for those who think they're justified for questioning ward:
may 2016:
nobody here has walked in ward's shoes. nobody here knows if something that weighs heavily on denzel's mind is making 100% sure that his mom is taken care of for the rest of her life.
for those who hint at ward or players like ward being selfish, shut your freakin' piehole and get over yourself. these players owe you nothing. not a damn thing.
Ward sure has a legacy now: sitting out a bowl game. Which is too bad, because he had one of the all-time great lockdown-corner seasons we've seen around here.Ward doesn't really have a legacy. JT is the most prolific Buckeye QB of all time. Saying that Ward didn't make a sacrifice implies that he doesn't give a [Mark May] about Ohio State or his teammates. There's no reason to think that.
So the adults shouldn't be punished for doing the same things that kids are chastised for? Gotcha.I don't, I think it would be a great idea to hold coaches to that standard and get hit with a financial penalty for leaving early. Also, I don't consider a top bowl game a "meaningless exhibition"...I consider it the conclusion of what the team has been working for all year.
I think some are not necessarily questioning his loyalty but rather where the game of college football could be headed.indeed
using the numbers from my previous post; Ward has about $9MM guaranteed right now, could do nothing but risk losing it by playing and his mother recently lost her husband unexpectedly...all that and, by Urban Meyer's own account of the situation, the kid was STILL torn between playing and not playing up until a day or two before the game...but online superfans want to question the kids loyalty.
Amazing
It's his life, his body and his money. He has earned it.Fuck superfans, go get yours young man.
So I guess the legacy of Leonard Fournette and Christian McCaffrey is sitting out a bowl game too. I can bet that Ward would haves no problem with their futures... And both of them were still drafted in the 1st round. For the fools who think that GMs care that much about kids sitting out a bowl game, there you go. If there's enough film,a team will take them.Ward sure has a legacy now: sitting out a bowl game. Which is too bad, because he had one of the all-time great lockdown-corner seasons we've seen around here.
It's a footnote that will be talked about until he runs his 40 at the combine. No one's going to care anymore by week 1.Ward sure has a legacy now: sitting out a bowl game. Which is too bad, because he had one of the all-time great lockdown-corner seasons we've seen around here.
my nickname for you is one downer. My new nickname for you is One-Upper
