CB Denzel Burke (All B1G, All-American)

Burke is dialed in... he leapfrogged a development stage
Freshman year he had more confidence than ability but he did pretty well
Last year, he slumped and dealt with leg/feet issues
This year his confidence has leaped and his ability has caught up..
I suspect he'll be known as a shutdown corner going forward

But if you had to deal with Zone 6 every day... gonna make Burke some serious money in the NFL

Too bad Burke didn't play last night. We really could have used him to completely lock down an entire half of the field.

8D
He is about to enter Shawn Springs or Ahmed Plummer status in their final seasons at OSU in terms of teams refusing to throw his way after Burke proved it is pointless to even try. That is the definition of a lockdown corner.

Star Status: College football players breaking out and making big leaps in 2023

DENZEL BURKE, CB, OHIO STATE

Remember Denzel Burke? The true freshman standout in 2021 looked like he’d be the next great at a place that often claims DBU. He just didn’t take the leap as a sophomore. He wasn’t bad. He was solid. But a so-so Buckeyes secondary needed more. Burek's found it this year.
Whereas opponents completed 56.9% of their passes against Burke last year, they’re only completing 33.3% of them this season. Notre Dame clearly decided they weren’t going to try him. The Irish only threw at Burke once on Saturday. Burke ranks 11th nationally with an 80.4 PFF coverage grade. He’s emerged as an elite presence on the outside, and the Buckeyes’ defense is much better for it (and so is his draft stock).
