CB Davison Igbinosun (National Champion)

True. Maybe Doran Grant would have been better example. I don't even remember him.
Doran Grant was also a really good CB! And honestly, OL and CBs are 2 positions that if you don’t remember them it could be a good thing. Because if you remember names from those positions, either they were getting killed or they were greats! If you don’t remember them then they weren’t getting killed very good players and still excelled. For example, everyone remembered Denzel Burke during and right after the Oregon game. I don’t remember mentioning him the rest of the season. Donovan Jackson is mentioned for how great he’s played at OT with Simmons going down. But we also talk about Zen Michalski because he looked overwhelmed. But yet people rarely bring up Luke Montgomery or Austin Siereveld.
iggy is mentioned because he has been known to hold a lot. I hope he gets to the point where we forget that he’s out there. But 1 v 1, I still hold my breath when the ball goes his way because I worry that he’ll get too aggressive and get a flag

I think IGB can be too if he returns next year. Players as big, fast and physical as him are really tough to come by.
I am fine with him being a dog out there even getting a penalty, but rarely. Coaching him to control it instead of coaching it out of him is the key to creating a demon DB which makes it easier on the front 7

As much as I love this kid and how much he has helped the team, he may cost this team a valuable W and almost did on Monday. I'm elated that he helped win the NC, but I wouldn't be mad if he took his talents to the NFL. He is far too aggressive, to the point where there will be an OC who just says screw it, we're going to attack him all game until he's benched. Being most penalized CB in CFB is never a good stat to have, and I wonder if that can be coached out of him

there was some commentary about the DB's being super handsy and could have been flag on every play.... Burke, and Hancock got really handsy so it seems like its whatever Walton is teaching, which is concerning

Maybe. He does get a little too carried away, but I love how aggressive he plays. It’s much harder to coach that into someone than it is take scale it back.

I think it kinda cuts both ways. He's obviously a bit too physical, but show me a good corner and I'll show you a guys who's physical with his opponent. Needs to get better at getting away with it more than anything. Would definitely like to see the CBs next year turn their heads more.

Yes, but that aggressive play caused a 1st down late in the game that should've been a lose of downs on the TE. Which then ended up in a TD. If ND actually had a better pass game that could've been much worse. If Iggy returns, that should be a major worry against Texas, and honestly that will be a worry all year. OSU was able to win with him, but I worry that it becomes a liability

There's physical, and then there's someone who needlessly extends drives because he's hugging the WR the whole play
