everyone seems so worried about speed

He has competed at the state track meet the past two years in the 300-meter hurdles and holds the East Ridge school record in three events -- the 100 (10.79 seconds), the 200 (22.2 seconds) and 300 hurdles (38.7 seconds).

no teddy ginn jr type numbers, but not the slow poke you folks are making him out to be.

Seriously, this point needs more attention. Yeah, I'm happy with Chris Wells, Rob Rose, and Kurt Coleman, but come on. Say it with me. Chimdi Chekwa. Doesn't that just bring a smile to your face?

In regards to speed. We now have the premier speed coach in the country in Butch Reynolds. And as pointed out Chekwa is no slouch to begin with.

Youboty is not the world's fastest corner but he managed ok. :)

Chimdi will be fine. I look forward to seeing his name announced all over the place too.

Actually, Youboty is one of the fastest players on the team. He tore up the scouting combines (especially the Penn State one, if I remember right), as being one of the fastest players there. He's a killer. Chekwa has good speed for a corner.. not great, no, but plenty good enough.

I have seen this kid play in the state playoffs the past 2 years and the kid is very good..reminded me of a young youboty

Can you ellaborate on how he looked like a young Youboty? I havent seen much about this kid.

first off he is a great track athlete (school record in the 200)..
he played 6A football (biggest in the state if Florida) and East Ridge was #1 for most of the year until they got knocked out in the playoffs..he just has the same build as youboty and from what I have heard is a smart football player..he is raw..his football speed is good..again a lot like youboty..i think tressel and his staff have a certain idea of what they want their corners to be..and this kid fits it..
