CB Chimdi Chekwa (Official Thread)

He's a great kid , but he got pushed around by the bigger receivers last year. USC has a ton of big receivers. I think that would be in their favor if he starts or plays most of that game. Just sayin.......

He was DPOW against Purdue and I'm not sure who exactly he covered but their #2 and #3 guys measure in at 6-4 and 6-3 respectively.

He did have a great Purdue game.
He got handled the Illinois game. Maybe he was expecting help but if you have that game, watch him get pushed around. He was a bit light in the pants so maybe he put some muscle on in the off season?

The since banned group of refs not only decided that fumbles weren't fumbles in that game, they decided that a running 5 yard head start block by a WR wasn't offensive PI. Checkwa wasn't perfect as a freshman but he's going to be a stud.

Reminds me of when Winfield and Nate Clements were true freshman nickel backs in 1996 and 1998 respectively. It takes a ton of talent to force PT as a true freshman on defenses that stocked.

This is a minor point and I might be wrong, but wasn't Chekwa a RS freshman?

Now that you mention it I think he was. Same difference, you have to be pretty talented to break into stacked lineups.

BTW, not trying to put him in those two players class, just draw a general comparison.
