Birm calls out how thirsty Michigan is in this recruitment as something he’s never seen before, specifically mentioning the coordinated effort to get periphery characters like Charles Woodson to tweet at Scott.
Carpenter mentions Marcus Ray and this tweet as a part of that effort.
Carpenter then humorously recalls a radio interview with him where Ray candidly reflected that he’d probably be better off now if he had chosen to go to Ohio State.
I wouldn’t put it past Carpenter to actually pull the audio from that interview (if it still exists) and share it with people of influence like he mentions.
We definitely haven’t seen anything like this recruitment in a long time and my interest is maxed out.
Hopefully Ohio State can close the deal. In this show Ward also mocks Harbaugh for going from swaggering confidence about Ohio players to begging for more NIL money. And although I don’t think that is the most important factor in this recruitment, it can certainly be something that gets the Buckeyes over the finish line in front, which Ward might be alluding to there.
I rmemebr Chris telling that story on a Buckeye documentary for The Game. One of my favorite recruiting stories ever!Reminds me of a story Sonny Spielman used to tell us at OSU camp about Chris Spielman having his recruitment come down to OSU and ttun. Sonny emphasized he wanted Chris to make a truly independent decision even though he was a Buckeye fan, and Chris supposedly told his dad he wanted to go to ttun. To which Sonny said "BS, you're going to Ohio State". At least that's how Sonny told it and it got a laugh whether that was really the case or not.
Anyways, I am thinking Scott doesn't put his dad through that and picks OSU on his own accord. But I'll say I was hoping for early July to allow less time for ttun to (skunk)weasel their way back in for real.
