Cavs-Wizards 1st round playoff series

"Lebron gets calls that Arenas doesnt get just because hes Lebron"

Lebron: 7 free throws attempted

Arenas: 16 free throws attempted

Fuck Eddie Jordan. I guess thats how the NBA deals with shit. The fucking coach cries so the refs change how the game is called.
so you're suggesting whining about everything is a bad thing?

if Lebron has twice as many FT attempts, does everything then become right in the world?

Look I hate weak foul drawing play as well, but the irony here is too much.

First off the officiating was horrendous like normal but all in all the cavs simply just turned the ball over way too much. I think when Larry Hughes had to leave in the third with four fouls was a big turning point in the game. Hopefully the cavs will come back home and take care of business.

I haven't met many coaches which don't work the refs. That Thad Matta sure is a tool for doing so.

my roommate is a cavs fan, therefore I watch almost all of the games. As somebody who likes lebron, I also hold an interest in them.

the cavs were a one trick pony tonight, that's why they lost.

From what i saw of the game, it looked like LeBron was trying to do too much. He was hot to start off but then fell apart. Granted, his supporting cast didnt do much for him but from what i saw LeBron was trying to do to much. I also think that the duo of Arenas and Jamison is starting to be too much for the Cavs. Those two are starting to kill the Cavs. LeBron and company have no answer for those two.

While I'm going through reasons that I don't like the NBA, I'll add that I'm sick and tired of watching players jump up and down, throw their hands in the air, etc. after just about every single call. I've played enough organized sports to know that sometimes in the heat of a competitive matchup your emotions can get the better of you, but this is ridiculous. It's every single play. This game alone I've seen Jared Jeffries, Antonio Daniels, Antwaan Jamison, and Gilbert Arenas all yelling at the refs and making fools out of themselves during the middle of the game. They look like big babies out there. And before I am accused of being a homer since I only listed Wizards' players, the Cavs might have been doing the same thing, but I didn't notice it on as large a scale. Regardless, no matter who's doing it, it's childish and ridiculous. These guys are paid professionals, and they need to act like it.

First off I want to say that I feel I was right with my half time post about knowing that LBJ was going to get complacent and not take it to the rack, and extend that lead that we had at half.

I am not going to blame a game on the refs, yes they have been bad, but they have been bad both ways and it is getting really annoying. The need to call every little touch is the problem. Whatever happened to the no blood no foul rule. Someone mentioned it earlier in the thread about hating the way Arenas plays the game and I totally agree that half of the foul calls that he draws against the other team he isnt even going towards the hoop, and he pretends to fake a foul and when he is goign to the hoop he runs into you.

I am not sure what the defense would be for that, b/c if you come over and try to take the charge you are not going to be there in time, if you stand with your hands in the air, to just alter the shot you are going to get a foul called on you b/c he will ram into you, much like he did against Donyell once tonite, when Donyell just stood there with his arms in the air, Or he will use his off arm to shade the defender and then fall down.

I understand that this is how he plays, but it gets real annoying when he gets every single call.

IMO a game should have at most 20 fouls give or take a few. That is both teams combined. Just let them play and be physical, let guys bang in the post, let guys be physical on the ball, but quit with going to the damn line everytime someone puts a finger on another player.

Ok now that my rant is over, I want to give a real reason why we lost. Once again I am going to partially blame Mike Brown and his inexperience. Now I think he has done a wonderful job, but he is just as inexperienced as a head coach as alot of our team is to the playoffs. Snow, is our stopper and when Arenas and Co. are out there scoring pts like crazy and LBJ is the only one attempting anything on the offensive end, why not put him back in. I don't remember when he went out, but I don't remember seeing him in the last 5 minutes. I know that Eric isnt the greatest player, but he keeps this team together and organized out there on the court and we needed him out there, and I would love to see Ira get some more minutes and try and D these guys up. Also where was Drew at, in the second half. He went with Flip way way way tooooooooooooooooooo long, I was yelling for him to take him out, when he was missing his open jumpers and was forcing way tooooooooo much, and he is not the guy that you want to defend Arenas or Butler.

All in all I am happy with the split in Washington. We knew we needed to have at least one of these games and we got one. Now the homecourt has shifted back in our favor and the Q needs to be rockin' for game 5. We really need this next game.

My solution is that we also move around on offense and try and get out into transition and run a little bit.

Everyone knows the officiating in the NBA is horrible. The Cavs need to not let it get to them.

1. I have to give Jared Jeffries a lot of credit. He was getting into position all night long.

2. Flip needs to be starting over Hughes right now. It's clear Larry just isn't back into it yet.

3. Damon Jones needs to not be playing. I have supported him all year through the fans' classless booing and everything. But it seems he's not willing to accept his limited role in the playoffs.

4. Where is Z?

5. Where is Z?

6. Lebron needs to develop a jump stop in the paint, and just raise up for the baby jumper. They're giving that to him in order to draw the charge. He keeps flying in there expecting the hard foul and they're fucking with him. Have to give the Wizards credit for that.

I can sum this all up in one tidy little sentence:
The Cavs laid an egg in the second half.

All the "good" officiating in the world would not have allowed them to win that game.

Now we move on and hope to take the next two.

4. Where is Z?

5. Where is Z?

Two very good questions...we're lucky its knotted up with the production we've gotten from the big guy.

That is all.

Damon Jones summed up his entire persona tonight in one shot. During his brief stint in the game, he attempted a 3 from the left wing on the TV screen with about 5:00 minutes left in the 4th. He stood there in his little pose as the shot was woefully short. Had he broke down and followed his shot in, he would have had an easy rebound.

All style, no substance.

Z is a nonfactor. Gooden had his one flash in the pan performance, so he will now disappear for the remainder of the series. Brown sees it, which is why he's on the bench.

The main difference is summed up right here: Washington came out and played to win the game. Cleveland came out and tried to not let the series get tied at 2.

Agree

1. I have to give Jared Jeffries a lot of credit. He was getting into position all night long.

I will give him credit, but there is no way that he should be able to stay with LBJ the way he did, they need to untilize LBJ in different ways than just having him bring the ball up the court and try and go one on one. Maybe try posting him up, or bring him off a screen or two.

2. Flip needs to be starting over Hughes right now. It's clear Larry just isn't back into it yet.

I disagree here, I think that Hughes is spending a lot of time concentrating on D in this series and it is hard for him to get his offensive game going. The whole team is not being strong with the ball and turning it over. I thought Flip played well there for a while, but then tryed to take the game over, and he was in over his head IMO. Don't take it as me not like Flip, but he was trying to do too much tonite, and we need Larry's defense in this series for a chance to win.

3. Damon Jones needs to not be playing. I have supported him all year through the fans' classless booing and everything. But it seems he's not willing to accept his limited role in the playoffs.

I am not exactally sure what you mean, by the second part of him not being willing to accept his role, but I think that he needs a minute here or there, to try and hit a big shot or two for us. He is a liability on D, but he inst exactally lazy out there, he just isnt a good defender, but we need his O at times. Honestly I would like to see Ira get out there and try and give us a defensive presence.

4. Where is Z?

5. Where is Z?

Totally agree, he could be dominating this series, but I don't think he is demanding the ball enough and at times, is letting smaller guys get him out of position. Also his jumper isnt falling like it was earlier in the season, and that is hurting his pt IMO b/c at times he is also a defensive liability when they go to that small lineup.

6. Lebron needs to develop a jump stop in the paint, and just raise up for the baby jumper. They're giving that to him in order to draw the charge. He keeps flying in there expecting the hard foul and they're fucking with him. Have to give the Wizards credit for that.

I agree here.

I couldnt see what happended, b/c they didnt show it, but I thought that DJ was knocked down, it clearly looked like his hand was hit when he shot the ball and I we even thinking that a foul might be called and the announcers said he tryed to draw a foul, so I was tihnking that he was knocked down, b/c or at least I hope he wasnt just standing at the other end of the court while the team was on D.

I would agree, but JJ has the length to bother Lebron in the post. Now, LBJ might be able to muscle him up a bit, but we run the risk of getting him into foul trouble, because JJ can flop too. As far as the screen thing, Lebron isn't Rip Hamilton, and so he's not a great shooter off the screen. He needs the ball in his hands to create his own shot.

I agree that LH's D is very vital to this team. But I think he needs to be coming off the bench, or at the very least, be on the floor with Flip. Other than Drew in game 2, Flip has been the only other consistent offensive threat for this team.

His posture on the court shows his discontent. He's not happy coming off the bench for limited periods, and it shows with the mental lapses I'm seeing. Either the Cavs need to get him in more, or not play him at all.

I don't think anyone can muscle LBJ in the post, also they have done switching on screens and he could take advantage then. I don't necessairly mean like Rip, I just mean a little curl screen throw the lane, or a couple baseline screens, just to get the Defense moving, alittle.

I honestly thought that Flip and Hughes on the floor would be awesome, but it hasnt worked out like I envisioned it would. LH has to be out there to play Arenas, b/c no one else besides maybe snow can. Flip is also a liablity on the defensive end, and he seems to be forcing quite a few shots. I like it when he creates and goes to the hole, but not when he is forcing shots.

I agree he needs to understand that this might be the worst matchup or him to be on the floor.

That was the worse calling I've ever seen like that.

Right after half-time it was a anti/lebron were some were really funny calls.
All of a sudden, as the 1st qt was an average n.b.a calling games then there was such a change of the game it made me sick thinking how controlled the games are.

I did that through college and never was taught like that , to change the levels of the game
