Cavs' West breaks finger on shooting hand - NBA - Yahoo! Sports

Broken finger. West is at least out tomorrow while the doctors figure out what to do. Time for a 10 day contract.

Some names out there are Juan Dixon, Ty Lue and Brevin Knight as temporary patches. WE could also see some mroe of AP at the point or even Lebron bringing the ball up.

A couple other guys out there are Shaun Livingston, or Antonio Daniels a guy the Cavs worked out earlier in the year.

That's good. The Cats couldn't beat the Magic or Hawks. I'm not sure who I'd rather the Cavs face in the second round. I think they beat the Magic and the Hawk, but the real question is which team has the better chance of knocking off the Celtics. I'm thinking the same second round matchup as last year would be fine.

I think it's an easy answer that you don't want to play the Magic and the Celts if you can help it. The Hawks do not scare me.

This is a prime example why I don't think the Cavs need to make a move to get better this season unless a team is willing to give them a star. The Shaq trade was made to beat the Lakers and Magic and in that respect it has worked. The only good team the Cavs need to prove they can beat is the Celtics. (Now watch them lose to the Bobcats in the first round)

I agree the Cavs don't look like they "need" to make a move, but if they can get a solid PF by just renting Z out for 30 days then it's a no brainer to me.

And what the hell is with the Bandwagon Laker fans in the crowd? They can go eat shit as far as Im concerned.

That was annoying... I think there were more of them than usual because Kobe was going to hit 25,000 career points.

Worst refs EVER. This game shouldn't even be close.

I really didn't think the refs were that bad at all... I feel like I'm usually pretty fair with judging the refs but maybe I wasn't paying close attention.

Hypothetical: If you're starting a team and for whatever reason your next pick is between Andrew Bynum and J.J. Hickson, who do you take? Your answer may still be Bynum but it's pretty amazing how much closer it is now than at the beginning of the year.

If West is going to be out for a similar period as Mo Livingston or Daniels would probably be the better option. For the short term I would find the best fit of a PG in the D league and sign them to a 10 day contract. If Brown is going to try to fill the minutes with guys currently on the bench this could be great news for Danny Green. I get the feeling Lebron is going to be playing 40+ minutes a game and bringing the ball up the floor for a while. Hopefully West's finger is similar to Kobe's and he can play through it. On the bright side the next 4 weeks are probably the easiest of the season for the Cavs.

word is that they are going to try and get west to tough it out for the next few weeks until his court date, where he'll cop a plea and get suspended, then he can fully heal the finger. by then, mo will be close to back.

I would like to see replacing West by committee as well. Get Gibson and Green more playing time, this offense can survive with a PG by committee, just set up LBJ pick and roll/pop with guys standing on the three.

It seemed to me that the Lakers were getting some easier calls than the Cavs were getting, but Shaq constantly gets hammered and rarely gets calls in every game.
I think most people would take Bynum due to his size, but I wouldn't want the Cavs to give up Hickson for an old player just because it might make them a little better this year. a few years down the line JJ is going to be a force on offense. He just needs to get through the Drew Gooden defensive stuff.

If that's the case it might be good to bring in a d league guy to sit on the bench and provide depth just in case.

A solid 100 to 99 win over OKC.

I only caught the last couple minutes of the game, but the Cavs only shot about 50 % from the line. Now, Shaq was 6 for 15, so it's not really a team problem, but still something that need to be fixed. LeBron had a great game though, 37 points, 9 rebounds and 12 assists, plus the game winning block with 2 seconds left. Boobie hit the game winnin 3 w/ about 8 seconds left and it was nice to see, because the Cavs will sure need it w/ Mo out for 4-6 weeks and Delonte for who knows how long. Anyway, it was a very good win considering the circumstances over a pretty talented and underrated Oklahoma City team.

Looking at the silver lining... this forces the team to learn more about itself...

They still stand around when LJ has the ball.. why we still do that bugs me...

But I liked what I saw of the 'new' faces... Wish I could get a comfort zone about Parker... but I can't get there... Good game for Danny Green... Shaq's leadership was on display... Really liked JAWED WILLIAMS .. Thought is was cool that Cedric Jackson got to see the floor.. had to be a huge feeling for him... coming back home and playing in the Q

the cavs were 20-40 from the line, and 14 of 25 (56%) without shaq. it was certainly a team problem.
