Cavs 09-10 Season (official thread)

I came back to this one for the fourth quarter. Those last few minutes were fun to watch.

That was the goofiest looking three ever. I loved it though.

Atlanta's gonna bitch about the shot clock incident, but the errant shot clock never came into play because Smith turned it over before he could even get into the lane or rise up for a jumper.

If anything they should have given the Cavs a 19 second shot clock to make up for it. It isn't like you can go back in time and fix the clock. There was enough time on the clock that none of the 3 refs realized what happened anyway.

Was at the game tonight... Lebron was amazing, the Hawks offense was impressive especially joe johnson. That being said the Cavs got away with playing alot of bad defense on the ball and somehow they won the game. Finding a way to win against a good team when not everyone is playing their best is why i have high hopes for this team. Oh and happy birthday to Lebron, Andy's 3 was a nice gift.

and the celtics got smoked by phoenix tonight.

bottom line is that the cavs have played 2 more games, and a much tougher schedule than boston thus far, and have a better record and are the top team in the east. boston is going to fade as the season wears on and as age catches up to garnett, allen, and to a lesser extent pierce.

as for the cavs tonight, both Z and Shaq looked awful on the 2nd night of a back to back. both played a lot more last night, and it showed.

Shaq and Z aren't a good matchup for the Hawks either. That's when it will be nice when Powe gets back so that the Cavs will have an extra big that can play against the athletic teams. On the bright side there are no back to back games in the playoffs so Shaq and Z should be fresh every night even though I think they are better off going small against teams like the Hawks and Celtics.

This will really hurt the rotation for about a month and possibly limit Cleveland freeing up some cap space by dumping some nonguaranteed contracts to some other teams.

The Cleveland Cavaliers expect to be without 6-8 forward Jamario Moon for about three weeks.

Moon has an abdominal strain on his left side. He has played in 31 games this season, averaging 17.8 minutes, 5.0 points and 3.5 rebounds.

I'm not too worried... any minutes he played can be filled in by Boobie and as long as he rests and gets his health right he should be fine for later in the season. IMO this has nothing to do with dumping non-guaranteed contracts to other teams for some role players because we have enough depth.

Also the Gilbert Arenas fallout could benefit the Cavs more than any other team in the league (see Antawn Jamison).

good story on why the wizards should trade Antwan Jamison...someone i have always wanted to have on the cavs....I would imagine we would have to trade Hickson and probably Z for his expiring contract....but whatever ferry has to do to get this deal done then he should do it

Time has come for Wizards to free Antawn Jamison: Windhorst Beat Blog | Cleveland Cavaliers - cleveland.com

For the short term that might be a good deal for the Cavs, but I would still worry about giving up Z for the rest of the season unless Ferry knew that he could resign him in 30 days. I would also hate to give up a young guy like Hickson that has the potential to be a great PF once he figures it out. I know it's mostly about this year for the Cavs, but assuming Lebron resigns I would be pissed if JJ turns into a stud someplace else. Jamison is 33 an probably only has a few years left. In another year or two JJ could be a dominate PF for 10 years.

I have never really been on board with trading for Jamison, especially if we have to give up JJ. Sure Jamison can score but he also likes to take a ton of shots, and his defense isn't exactly one of his strengths.

i like JJ and i know he still is young but to me he still looks a baby calf running around...its like he hasn't grown into his body yet and he seems uncoordinated at times....he also still does not have a outside shot beyond 10 ft and you know mike brown is not going to give him any type of minutes once playoff time comes and Powe is back and healthy...to me it makes sense because if we do not make it past the ECF this year then its hard for me to be mad at lebron for leaving since we didnt do EVERYTHING possible this year to try and make a championship run (shaq excluded)
