Cavs 09-10 Season (official thread)

Snaq may have been a good acquisition 5 years ago but I'd have passed on him. Not only is he a shell of his former self his ego still doesn't realize it. I hope it works out but I remain skeptical. Besides it was Hedo that hurt us most against Orlando. That's why I think Rasheed Wallace would've been a better pick up, he's an inside-outside threat and he makes his free throws.
As far as LeBron staying or going I'm just putting myself in his shoes. He's young, wealthy and one of the top 5 athletes in the world I would argue. Why would he want to play in a dump like Cleveland when he could go to say New York, Los Angeles, Chicago or Miami? With the exception of Detriot and possibly Oklahoma City, Cleveland has to be one of the least desirable places to play. I'd love for him to stay but if he leaves I wouldn't blame him one bit.

A couple observations:

1. I like the idea of Shaq and Z on the court together in the right situations, but not a regular basis. Right now I get the feeling Mike Brown doesn't want to hurt Z's feelings so he is upping his minutes by putting him on the court w/ Shaq. It's death when a team wants to run...why Mike Brown doesn't react to opposing coaches personel/strategy adjustments is beyond me? Did he not see Jarret Jack enter the game and immediately push the tempo last night when Z and Shaq were on the court?

2. This team is built for the playoffs. They won't surpass last years win/loss total, but they'll be in better shape come playoff time. It's important to remember Z has a ceiling, and come playoff time, he CANNOT find an extra gear when everyone else seemingly does. Shaq will get a solid 35 minutes a game and at the very least defend the rim in the playoffs.

3. I can still see a scenario in which the Cavs acquire a Stephen Jackson or another scoring guard. Parker is a nice role player, and Delonte is a solid player, but Mo and Delonte are still probably the smallest 1-2 in the league. With salary cap adjustments coming, and the liklihood no teams will be able to sign 2 max deals, a player with multiple years isn't as big of a concern as it used to be.

4. Mike Brown concerns me.

Speaking of Minnesota, tonight they can do the Shaq/Z lineup cuz Love/Jefferson is probably a good matchup with them.

Agree, Jackson is a possibility. But I just don't see us giving them Z like they apparantly want. Also, the way Hickson is getting yanked around, he better not be the hold up for not getting Jackson. So really does Golden State cave and take a Gibson/Hickson type package?

Boobie/JJ/Jawad would get it done. I think with D Jackson on the bench and Powe coming in in a few months I could let JJ go. Especially if he's only going to play a few minutes a game. Lebron spent the whole summer with JJ and is close to Boobie as well so I'm not sure how he'd take that move. I think this is problem something Ferry and Gilbert take to Lebron and say what do you want us to do.
The reason to keep JJ would be that they are going to need bigs in the next year or two. If Shaq and Z are gone next year JJ is your starting PF.

I agree we need JJ to develop as he is our future starting PF (with Andy moving to C, if we don't bring anyone new in) At the same time, if Brown keeps jerking JJ around he may never develop here.

But we do have time, no need to rush out to make a move now. While SJax is the flavor of the month, come December/January there might be some better flavors around and by then we should know more about how this team has come together.

This is one thing that is going to drive Cleveland fans crazy. We SO need the Cavs to play well just for our own well being with the Browns sucking and the Indians dead and buried. But we need to be patient as come December/January this team will probably be a well oiled machine as Brown has admitted he plans on switching up the rotations til he finds stuff that clicks. But it might be painful waiting til that happens.

Alright guys, time to get a W tonight...whats the word on West? Still doubtful? Did he even travel with the team on the two game road trip??

And so far I have not been impressed with Parker. Probably some nerves going through him, but it'll be nice to get West back

Sounds like he has been with the team and even warming up. Just spends the game in the locker room.
Cavs look sharp right now................. Without shaq on the court. Just sayin.
They got in a rut where they just kept jacking up shots that I wish they wouldn't do. They've had so many easy shots that I'd like to see them work the ball around and try to get a lay in or dunk.

I think Parker has yet to make a shot off the dribble outside of 2 feet. I think he's 2 for 2 tonight on shots where his feet were set when he received the pass. I wish someone would tell him to stop shooting off the dribble.

West back tonight. Came off the bench for 13 in 24 minutes. I only got to watch bits and pieces, but they are looking better and better every game. Once they hit their groove there are probably only a handful of teams that will be able to give them a run. As long as West can keep his head on straight I don't know if the Cavs should be in a hurry to make any moves like Steven Jackson. The only move that would make since at this point would be to bring in Daniels. With West back Moon hardly played tonight, but JJ got 14 minutes which is surprising.
