Cavs 09-10 Season (official thread)

Yup, the celtics are making plays, while the cavs only seem to make them occasionally on defense.

The refs aren't the reason the Cavs are executing that poorly.
I agree.

Have the Cavs hit a jumper this whole quarter?

They just keep dribbling around. Driving into traffic and turning it over/getting blocked/missing. LeBron got abused by Tony Allen too. No focus on D from him.

One of LeBron's worst games. No desire to take a big shot. No leadership when the team was down. Turnovers. Terrible defense (got beat on cuts by Allen).

On to game 5. Really could have ended the series right there in the 4th quarter, but the Celtics wanted it more.

When I watch the Celtics (moreso in past), the Lakers, the Spurs (of old)... I am impressed by the depth of strong starters. Every year I watch the Cavs in the playoffs, I see one great player and a bunch of #4-7 guys.

Now I'm not much of an NBA guy, but there's no excuse for a player of Lebron to go this long without top shelf talent or coaching.

Yup.

They simply lack the killer intinct of a championship team.
Far too streaky. When they're rolling they can beat anyone, but when they take a huge body blow and stagger a little, they don't usually regain control of the fight. Sometimes they scrap and put together enough punches to win, but they usually look like the talented rookies against seasoned veterans.

The thing is, these guys play like All-Stars in the regular season (literally, Mo Williams and Antawn Jamison. Plus Delonte West is a great 6th man). Danny Ferry has done a remarkable job to put talent around LBJ, but they choked big time. James didn't play well at all, so all-around poor game.

No clue what happened. Celtics are definitely a good team and it looks like each team is making adjustments. Plus they played like their season was on the line. Cavs did some more coasting.

Who would have thought that Cavs fans would be clamoring for Shaq to be in when we've been begging for more JJ Hickson the first 3 games? Well, today, Shaq was a clear difference maker while JJ was lost. Something Mike Brown needs to recognize, but he's not much of an in-game thinker, he gets a game plan and sticks to it.

Championship hopes really take a hit with games like this. They just won't win with the way they play. Lakers and Magic just play at a higher level for the whole 4 quarters.

Mike Brown has got to bench Mo Williams period. Anthony Parker hasnt done anything other than making the occasional 3 pointer. Moon should be starting over him, he is a high flyer that can at least slash to the basket. This is not a chamionship team. If they get passed Boston, look for a sweep by Orlando.

Fwiw this was the worst officiating job that I have ever seen on both sides of the ball.

Cavs have no answer for Rondo

Well..they kind of do, but Mr. Potato Head refuses to put LeBron on him. Quick question...if you've already decided Mo is going to guard Ray Allen and have committed to that, why not let LeBron guard Rondo and Parker take Pierce?

Take Rondo away and the Celts have zero chance. Why not let LeBron use his size and athleticsm? Our best defense in this game came on random switches where LeBron ended up on Rajon but that only happened a few times. Presumably, b/c Doc Rivers and Rondo don't want that match-up.

Pathetic fourth quarter performance. But I'm far more concerned with the discontent in the locker room than anything else. I sure hope this team isn't starting to crack at the seams. This series is still there for the taking.

These guys are not championship caliber players surrounding Lebron. They are just good players. Good players play well in the regular season. Championship caliber players don't get overshadowed in the playoffs. With the exception of Andy, these guys just aren't there yet.

Playoff teams raise their play when it comes to the playoffs, I haven't seen it from the Cavs. The '07 Cavs raised their games more than the past two iterations have.

Shaqulle O'Neal, Jamison, Mo Williams are all very good players. A great core around LeBron. I'd take this roster over the 4 starters put around Dwight Howard or Kobe.

It is a shame this team seems to struggle to match playoff intensity. I'm still shocked Mike Brown didn't let LeBron take Rondo today. Such a simple move would pay huge dividends. Will LeBron just flat shut him down....no, but he'd make it a hell of a lot harder than Anthony Parker is. Just slowing him down a little will pay huge dividends. It should be an easy move to make....I just don't understand it.
