Cavs 09-10 Season (official thread)

Mike Brown is caught between the best lineup being small with JJ getting a good amount of minutes and needing to get Shaq and Z (to an extent) ready for the Magic. With as well as JJ was playing at the end of the season it's criminal that he played for 10 seconds tonight.
This was pretty much as good as the Bulls can play and it still wasn't close in the end.

Another thing that irked me tonight was the amount of offensive rebounds that the Bulls got. Might be an issue for concern when bigger teams go up against the Cavs.

I'm not concerned with the rebounding results tonight so much as I am with the way it happened - the Cavs were being outworked for much of the game.

The Bulls are one of the best rebounding teams in the league. Game 1 was an uncharacteristic rebounding performance for them, much like the Cavs shooting from beyond the arc in that game.

Not the best efforts from everybody in uniform in the first two games of the series, and myself, like much of us here would like to see Hickson get some more play-time. He deserves it. The kid proved to me he works both sides of the floor, plays hard, and plays well. He can be a consistent ~17 point guy in a couple years, IMO.

It's a catch 22 for the Cavs in regards to Hickson right now. If Shaq had stayed healthy down the stretch, and didn't need these minutes to get back into rhythm on the court, J.J. would be getting a lot of minutes. It's better for the team right now for Shaq to be prepared for Boston and Orlando.

We'll need J.J. against Boston though. J.J. can play Rasheed on the perimeter much better than Shaq can. We'll throw a lot of looks at them. Right now I think they're more concerned with getting Shaq back into the flow.

If this were the middle of he season... I'd agree.

Unfortunately for Hickson (or his PT), the future is now.

But, yes... as mentioned.... he will be needed in certain match-up situations.

i dont see how this matchup is any worse for hickson then boston or orlando...i think hickson should be coming in after shaq comes out...he can guard noah and miller better then Z...when we play boston then i would have Z get more minutes since garnett is just as slow and old....if its big baby then i would have hickson....i would not do what mike brown is doing right now which is completely shutting hickson down

I thought of this after game 2, but I never said anything. Z is the one that is holding everything up. I hate to say it, but it would have probably been better for the rotations if Z hadn't come back. I doubt Mike Brown would be willing to sit Z in favor of JJ, but that's what the Cavs need to get the best players on the floor. Even against Orlando Z doesn't do anything against Howard that Andy can't do. I really hope Z retires after the season because I'd hate to see him playing for a different team or sitting on the end of the bench and getting no playing time next year.

Z cannot guard the pick and roll defense mike brown wants him to....it was clearly evident against orlando during the playoffs last year and i wanted to throw a brick thru the TV everytime it happened...we got away with it because we played detroit and atlanta....and we will get away with it against chicago....but do me a favor tonight and when Z is in watch how mike brown has him defend the pick and roll at the top of the key....for example: Rose has the ball at the top of the key, noah comes to set the pick for rose with Z guarding noah and mo guarding rose....mo fights thru the pick and Z does a "show" where he also comes out to guard rose for a second and then he is supposed to roll back thru the paint to re-guard noah....the problem with this is Z is tooooooo god damn slow and if noah gets the ball he can now either kick it out to the wing or if say lebron or jamison come over to help out in the paint, then someone like taj gibson is open in the paint for a easy bucket....Orlando ran this constantly to perfection and mike brown did not adjust the entire series....with shaq guarding howard now, hopefully instead of doing the "show" at the top of the key, mike brown has him sit behind the screen so when howard rolls shaq is right there waiting for him...better to get howard the ball with him at the foul line then him in the restricted area with someone having to come over with helpside defense....sorry for the rant but i cannot stand mike browns defense with Z....i think it was one of the main reasons we lost last year to orlando because it freed up their 3 point shooters because we were so busy switching defenders that someone was left wide open

The Cavs look slow and keep settling for outside shots. Hopefully Mike Brown isn't so set in his rotation to try something different if the game isn't going his way (i.e. JJ). The Bulls are hot now, but they'll start missing from deep at some point. They aren't the type of team that can stay hot for a whole game.

It's comical how rose gets away with that carry but the refs don't miss the call on Delonte West. It's just one game shyte-town.

Terrible call.

Just like the call on West that cost us 2 points.

This is why people dont take the NBA seriously.

The refs have called everything the chicago fans have wanted them to call all night.

Absolute joke.

Fuck the NBA
